Driving out there with Alf in front in his Austin Healey 3000, his self canceling indicator is no longer doing that so it's on pretty much all the time.
Bitsa hot rod/jalopy. The body is made from whatever was at hand, it has what looks like an Austin Chummy grille and rear section. The guy got it for free, he put in an 1100 Morris engine and Spridget front with discs and Spridget rear end. It was for sale for $2500 Interior has some very old upholstery, it has gold metalflake inserts that are all faded, but still charming.
1953 Swallow Doretti, incredible little car with MGA power, less than 200 ever built. I love this little fin detail, it could be used to good effect on a custom The owner was kind of a dipweed, I was parked near him and he kept saying things like, "that car is OK if you like bling." I guess I was a bit of a fish out of water in that show, but WTF, I like shaking up what people think is cool. Beautiful windshield posts. The door tops are actually laced into the aluminum door skins, can you imagine the time it must have taken to do that?
My old girl, totally outta place. I heard some unbelievable comments from people, all said with great authority, "those cars were never imported." "It's a Cortina." "I think it's Canadian." Women like her a lot, she is very girly, younger folks really dug her but the stiff collared English car fans were all a bit bewildered.
Your car just seems to say "Let's go get a beer and have some fun". That other stuff, while it's nice, just looks like garage furniture. Good for you having the coolest car in the joint.
Amazing little Berkely race car, street legal, powered by an Excelsior 2 cycle. triple cylinder motorcycle engine. It has an independent rear axle and a click style motorcycle gearbox. It has an auxiliary reverse but it disabled on this car. It has a fibergl*** monocoque shell and the whole shebang weighs in at 600 lbs.
Nads, not to sure about that '****ie seat' looks like it could be an interesting ride ! I think you old girl fits in well with the flat cappers nothing like a good wind up .... Nice pics, thanks for posting . .
looks darned good. keep thier heads confunderpated. I have a TC (sold my TD a while back and just scored the TC). it is a bit rough, but fun to drive. Though i do get the...is that your dads car. Chicks really dig it, park it somewhere long enough, and people start taking pictures.
The ****ie seat was easily removed, there was a box inside where the trunk once was, it would look better without the observation deck.
Sounds like some of the owners like to act the part as well - no different to a lot of American car owners over here Do people just put the English plates on for the show, or can you get away with it not being registered? In older films and TV programs English cars would have what looked like their original plates on. That Italia is nice, and definitely has hints of TR4/5 in it from the rear.
I think this is a Morgan, it was rear drive with a flathead four under the hood, not cycle engined. I've seen guys drive their cars with English plates on them on the street, don't know about the legality. A great many of the cars were trailered.
Your Cl***ic Capri is one of the Best looking designs ever to be manufactured this side of the Atlantic, even here people at shows think they are a compact American car albeit scaled down with RHD.
Totally drivable but how would you register it? It had no papers and the engine smoked like hell, it was still cool though, I bet he woulda taken $1500 for it.
The real story behind this car, was it was built by Buddy Palumbo , in Posaic New Jersey circa 1957 and named "The Fabulous Trashwagon" JT
As 'Cymro' said, one of the best designs to come from this side of the pond.Allways reminded me of a baby Starliner.
