Projects English Wheel build with bearings

Has anyone out there in HAMB land built an english wheel with large roller bearing and tapered farm axle bearing or pillow block bearing & how well did it work ????

 

I built a small on with a cast iron caster and a bearing to play around with. It worked well.

 

that's exactly what i was thinking about I only do small stuff like patch panels so that would be the size I thing I will build with the large upper bearing & see what happens will post results later

Your thinking of using the spherical bearing out of a pillow block for the bottom one?

 

Eastwood's uppers and lowers are only $15 ea. You would need to come up with a shaft and bearing.

Yes that was the idea i have a pillow block that has flange damage bearing good though

 

those look great I may try them I have a lathe that I am in the process of rebuilding would be easy to make shafts to fit. Thanks for the link.
