Hey for any one interested: there is an english wheel with several extra wheels for sale here in Forney Texas. Saw it on Dallas Craig's list under Auto parts - 1933 Ford. I have no connection to it. Wants $500.00

Seems to be a deal, assuming extras are with it.

I wouldn't say that it is much of a deal. Home made frame that still needs a lot of work and some anvils that look a bit neglected . E wheel.jpg E wheel wheels.jpg

I cant remember what I paid for my HF one, and I also bought a 5 piece anvil set from Eastwood, but I know I paid way less for it, and I dont have $500 in it, nor do I have any bitches about what I have. But then again, I have no idea how to use it, but it's fun beating divits in a piece of sheet metal and then rolling them out on the wheel....

Throwing the anvils into a metal box with miscellaneous metal hardware is NOT good for the surface smoothness on the anvils

Mr48chev is right again. A friend built his own and it has 3/4 inch thick support web connecting the vertical and horizontal beams.

The upper wheel on the machine looks like a standard rubber cart wheel.
I'm pretty sure the wheels in the box are Harbor Freight. He either started with a full HF setup and replaced the HF frame with his own to provide a larger reach. Or bought the set of HF anvils and built his frame.

I have a Harbor Freight english wheel I bought for $75 from a guy who used it to make one prototype of a part, and I've been happy with it doing basic stuff with it.

These upper wheels and anvils are fairly generic and easy to get. I built this wheel a bit ago and it worked well. The offshore wheels were OK but even after being trued and polished they required fairly regular touch up 003.JPG 004.JPG 005.JPG . Most guys will never approach the level of skill where they will be above this tooling anyway. Don't think I'd pay that much for it but as long as it was fabricated relatively accurately it should work OK. 003.JPG

English wheels are really easy to use, and they make quick work of damaged panels. You can make complete panels or repair existing ones way easier using an English Wheels than mallets and shrinking stumps.

I bought the "floor model" HF one at the store that is local to me a few years ago. They put it on a "floor model discount" and knocked quit a bit off the price and no takers, Kept marking it down more until one day I decided I had better buy it and when I checked out the gave me another discount. I had to go back and buy the other anvils outside of the one that comes with it though. I rolled it outside and one of the clerks helped me take it apart an stick it in my trunk.

The one Koz built is impressive. Super stout too.
