...Seems like after all this time of being on this planet I should have learned and after 38 years of being in business most things have happened.
So when you look at what other people say about a certain person or company and use their judgment or experience in most cases its a good experience - this time not so!
Our customer called in today and totally unloaded on us today with threats that he will take his car away and get someone else to finish it off. We are a considerable way into his build and have done and are doing a lot of work that we are not able to charge out at this time as is only partially completed.
We feel let down that we trusted a so called recommended Alliance Trader to act responsibly. Even though we are at this time only out of pocket the amount we paid him back in July of $910.00 and our customer has paid everything right up to date (that is finished) the loss of this build can be a serious jolt to our reputation as a responsible Rod Shop (we only build on recommendation). Believe me I am angry that a Trader like RILEY AUTOMOTIVE can go into hiding will not answer calls or emails for over a month, makes promises that are never kept, say that items will be dispatched next week and nothing happens. This has been an ongoing experience for over 3 months.

Knowing that "where there's smoke there fire" and seeing other posts on this forum regarding Vaphead/Eric, others are probably in the same boat. Sorry for unloading like this but I am angry and feel aggrieved. Maybe this Post will spark Eric into at least answering an email or at the outside refund our payment, as its now too late to make a claim via Paypal (the requested mode of payment) for reimbursement. Its not like we can jump in our car and go around to see whats up and if there are not any problems and we are over reacting perhaps a fellow HAMBER can enlighten us. I for one do not wish to see others caught up if there is one... <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

  2. If you used a credit card to pay Paypal, contact them. They will reverse the charges on Paypal, and PP can't do a damn thing.

I'm curious. What part was ordered that pretty much stopped the rest of the build?

hoping things come out okay for you....What a bust!:(

  4. All I can say is that something major seems to have shaken up Eric's life, and nobody seems to know what. He had to withdraw his company from the Alliance Vendor list. He also promised to donate to the Auction at the HAMB Drags and he had to withdraw his support from that as well. Nobody, that I know of, seems to have an idea what may have come his way. All I can imagine is that it was something that shook Eric terribly.

It is unfortunate that his misfortunes have also become yours in this way. Hopefully the air will be cleared in time. Sorry to hear of your troubles.

  5. no excuses, A call, or email back not a hard thing to do the way I see it. Explain your having problems and make things good. I hope he will read this and make things good for XM Bird. Sorry to hear your having this problem.

Unfortunately, I'd do as prewardars4me said. Call PP -or- the credit card co. and get your $ back. There is NEVER an
    excuse for Poor Customer Service.

I have similar grievances XM bird, and I have met the guy and spent an afternoon in his garage in Denver. He is a great guy and seems stand up, but he has dropped the ball this last 6 months. Just got an order from him yesterday, wrong parts and incomplete. Im going to write it up to experience and move on. the Shame is it was really good dealing with a Guy in the states who understood what you wanted and went out of his way to give good service. Ah well. I agree that life must have dealt him a hard blow, but if he reaches out a little, he might find a lot of support here.
Oh and I havent been in business as long as you, but work done is work done, complete or not. bill accordingly, and work out a way forward.

...the car has had a chassis built an all alloy body built but before we can get it passed for second round of engineering it needs brakes (backing plates were what was ordered and paid for) no use going forward with any finishing off of chassis and rolling car till inspection done. As for Paypal no credit Card involved just direct debit from Paypal account balance.

Get the brakes elsewhere and deal with the $910 issue separately. Just because the vendor out of integrity, doesn't mean you have to be too. Brakes are too simple of a thing to get from other suppliers.

...Hi Ben, we have met before (I purchased that 8BA engine from you for another car). You and I know that you can't in all honesty charge out for every second on the job, the owner is a straight up guy and I know in the end that if the job moves forward everything will work out. Catch up to you soon...

  11. What kind of backing plates do you need? Hamb is an awfully big place.

...as of this morning have put into motion getting them from someone else. Just that the time has been the issue not the loss of a grand. Our concern is that this happened and by the looks of it is continuing.

This has been covered. Eric has completely dropped the ball and frankly, has screwed some folks while doing so. I removed him from the alliance months ago. He doesn't answer emails or private messages. It's a bad deal.

I really feel like you folks need to go after him legally rather than posting on this forum. It would certainly be more productive and I will help all I can.

I'll keep this one open for a bit, but will close it eventually.

I did some business with Eric in the past and have slowly seen him through this forum melt. It is a shame because he was real good with me.

Sorry to see all this. I bought some air cleaners from him, he sent one mis matched one and immediately replaced it at no charge and told me to keep the extra. I had planned on doing more business with him, from that one experience. I hope everything works out for evreyone involved and he returns to business.

I did some business with him recently as well. Great service, quick shipping and kept in contact, sorry to hear I was the exception.

Yeah, Eric has been great for almost a decade. None of this makes any sense to me. I know the guy is a good guy. I just know it... But what kind of guy takes another's money and runs? And it's' starting to look like that is the case.

    I'm seriously conflicted about this.

    Just sucks.

Even so, I got my own business to protect... and that's why he was removed from the Alliance. I figured he would come around, get back on the straight and narrow, and we could get him back in the Alliance. I just don't see that happening anymore.

Time for you fellas to get organized.

If you have a deal gone south with Eric, reply here:
