Thanks again for the encouragement and kind words fellas, my heart is full. I got out there early this am before work and fabbed/installed the rear quarter supports and fit, modified, and installed an old spoon pedal I had hanging on the wall. Creeping closer to the finish line.... Just got word from RC that my QC should be shipped out 2nd week of april! Can't wait!! Shooting for a test drive late april... that'll give me a few weeks of driving around town here to shake anything loose and get it dialed in.

  9. Man, I'm glad you bought this instead of me! It would still be in a storage unit, just as it was delivered from JJ.

    Props, Andy! Great work!

"Still gotta make the rear quarter supports that go in the trunk, weld up a few holes, and bump-n-grind a few areas but this puppy is just about ready for mud."

    WHAT!
I figured you would be metal finishing the whole car.....

I can take a few, it's just a couple pieces of thick angle iron back to back with pin hinges on the ends. I clamp a flat bar of steel to the top with vise grips and fold metal with it...:D It works ok for small stuff, but often it's just a hair too small for what I need to do. I really need to upgrade, but I just don't have the room right now for anything larger anyhow.

It's apparent you have stalled on this and probably will never be able to finish it in time, being the good old boy that I am, I''ll come take it off your hands.LOL Fantastic job so far YOU DO ROCK. You have taken a pile of junk crap parts and created something great. Too many folks take good parts and turn them into crap.

Don't mud it... Just bang the major offenders into rough shape, grind some of the welds down, throw some satin on it, and drive the wheels off it.

There's plenty of time for making it prettier next winter. Personally I think it looks pretty damn good just as it is, but what do I know.

Trust me... It needs a little smoothing... :) I'm not the most meticulous builder by far, but I'm also not the kind of guy who could stand driving around a raggedy-ass car all year either. If it hangs around until fall, it's going to get shiny paint over the winter anyhow so I figure I might as well get the majority of the sanding out of the way now. I've got a few weeks before I can really drive it anyhow and a couple club brothers to flog.. er um... that are willing to help with the dust creation process.

Jeez, you guys and your spelling errors!;) Thanks daddy...

Worked on the dash a bit this am... it's really rough...filler primer to the rescue on this one. Modified the drivers side bottom so the gauge panel fit, patched up a mess of holes, glove box door fit and mounted... Also fit up the column mast, yanked the column shift mechanism off and smoothed out the bell and filled the hole with JB. I'm gonna make a connecting column drop piece that holds a single gauge in the center to attach the stock drop to the dash bottom. Also rebuilt the steering box with some hard parts from my pal Max here in the classifieds, thanks bud! New upper column bearing, shortened the shaft, installed a keyed top for the '40 wheel... blah blah blah...

And mounted the tailights, I love these late 40's units... simple, clean, and neat.

Decklid's a swingin'... got out of work a little early today so I whipped up some hinges out of a couple bolts, some leftover model A headlight bar, and some .125" plate.

Need to add the rubber bumper brackets and install the uprights that support the upper decklid area, decklid latch panel, add a little tubing to replace the wood above the doors, grind and bump a few areas and the body's comin off!
