Brakes are bled... there's fuel in the tank... windshield is in... gauges are hooked up... Fluids are filled... wiring is... almost done.

On schedule for a test drive tmw afternoon.:):):):):)

My pal Leroy brought his early olds powered '34 5w over today, he has really been helping me out a ton with parts and the bodywork, I just can't thank him enough. Hell, he even supplied sandpaper left over from his custom Chevy's paint job! My good buddy Joe Krabel has also put in more than a few hours sanding over here, thanks so much fellas. Proud to have such good friends to share the experience of building cars with and I'm very grateful for your help!

Pretty cool to see the two cars side by side!

Seeing those two sitting next to each other made me realize that if it wasn't for this build thread, I would have swore you started with a factory 5-window coupe.

That's how good yours looks. Now, get on with burning the rubber.

    :):):):)No burnouts just yet, haha!

BUT... I did drive it around a bit today. Just around the block a few times. Dudes... I gotta tell ya, it hauls the *%@# 'n MAIL... holy cow... And I only have the center carb hooked up right now. I'm tickled. And I can see how I'm going to have to be careful if I want this trans to live.

Gonna try to get my plates tomorrow. Got a few issues to sort out, of course: I need a new brake light switch... it's not charging for some reason... the road draft oil seperator canister is bent up at the seal area and leaking like a sonofabitch... and I need to get some parts from Mac's to finish the ebrake install.

I'm so happy for ya. What did you use for the pipes peeking out under the frame? I'm doing the same thing and was going to use a 36 driveshaft but the top opening is only about 2 inches which would be too restrictive for the hoss of a motor I'm using. Plus, I was figuring that you wouldn't see the nice taper anyway with them canted inward toward the front. I think I'm going to just use exhaust tube stock

    Yours came out great

Thanks fellers! Jerry this is just 1.75" exhaust pipe on it. I love the nice crack you get from small pipes on a smaller displacement v8. You really think 2" would be too small? I realize you've got some "upgraded internals" in your pachyderm, but what size did those hemi's run stock with duals?

Love it dude!!! Congrats congrats congrats!!!!!

I have 1.75" on my '35 as well and I really love the way it sounds. I chose that size for the sound and because 58-59 Corvettes didn't run any bigger then that.

Thanks again guys, much appreciated. I couldn't even sleep last night, hahaha! Just kept rewinding and replaying that short drive and obsessing over it. Probably a little unhealthy at this point, heheh...

I posted this on my FB page too, but I think I want to ditch these headlights in favor of something OLD and maybe a hair smaller? EVERYTHING on this car is old... just knowing that these aren't is starting to harsh my buzz a bit. If anyone has a pair of BLC, arrow, non-signal guides or something similar that they would trade for this repro pair of guides, get at me. These have a few dents and scratches in them, but the rings are perfect and I just put new lamps in them.
