I want to do this too so I read thru the entire thread but I missed a detail. Where did you get metal for the floors and home made patch panels?

I bought a couple full sheets of steel from my local supplier. 18ga for the floor, 20ga for the panels.

 Just saw the ad. Hope this goes to someone who appreciates the hard work you've put into this. Easily one of the best build threads ever on the HAMB.

Thanks again guys, got the interior window frames all finished up earlier this week. I just spent a couple hours going through the window regulators, replaced the drive gears in both, disassembled them cleaned and lubed everything and got them operating smoothly. It goes to the glass shop this week, gotta tidy a few other things up, and then it looks like she's going to live in switzerland!

Glad to see it's moving on down the road if it's your wish to. I got my ride in that thing so I am happy and excited to see what's next for you bud. I think a 32 5w is or should be in the cards. ;)

Cool to hear ya got the car sold. I am sure it will have a good home anmd the guys across the pond will dig it as much as we all did.
But now you have to fill us in on what you have in mind for this roadster build...

I told you, a 32 5w.... I figure if I hammer it long enough it'll eventually make sense to Andy and he'll take the bait. :D:D:D:D

Next A will build a '28 roadster starting with nothing but a gas tank and a 16" wire wheel.

This build and the story that goes with it (including the Bonneville trip) is beyond words. Very inspirational and awesome creativity and work. THANK YOU for sharing all of this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks doods, as far as personal stuff, next in line is my poor, neglected, full-custom '57 Ranchero project. She's had to sit and watch me build 3 or 4 cars while parked in the corner or out in the driveway under a tarp (!). It's time she gets the attention she deserves. And she's gonna need a LOT of it!

And I've got enough parts to slap a little mopar modified together if I need a break from that...

BUT... first and foremost, I've got a bunch of work lined up for others that I just can't do at home here. I need a spot that's big enough to park a few cars in plus '57 ford and actually be able to walk/work around it. SO I'm on the hunt for a building.

I know it's sold or for sale but I thought I saw it in the new hod rod mag as part of a beach races story. Sorry for dragging this up I was just curious.

  27. I thought this car was pretty cool when I met you and saw it at Speed Week. First time I've come across the build, even cool-er now. I know it's gone but what fun. Cheers!

this build is way old but it seems that i find myself re reading it montly... that is an amazing transformation.. it always amazes me to see that type of metal work skill and patients, let alone the knowledge to transform a pile of metal into a car like that. restoring a car is a fairly simple task, hacking a car into 6 pieces and welding it back together in a different form is insane.
you did a hell of a job. i would love to hear about your trip to bonneville... especially fallowing the rolling bones. also i was very interested in that QC rear... im not to far south from you.. ran into a few buddies of yours down here actually.
anyways i justed want to say what an amazing final product and a road trip of a lifetime. very very nice! thanks for all the info and ides.
