You're progressing by leaps and bounds my friend. I'm almost to the point where that Seller's remorse is setting in. :)

In no way am I suggesting you work 24/7, but man, you've got us salavating over this one. Take enough nourishment and get enough sleep but after that keep feeding our addiction for project progress. I've collected almost enough for a roadster project that will require about the same fabrication so I'm definitely waiting to see how you progress on this one.

Thanks a bunch guys, glad you're enjoying the progress!

BTW, I'm still looking for a decklid or at least a decklid inner... it doesn't have to be nice, as you could probably guess, I can make just about anything work. I guess I may have to make an entire decklid, but it would be nice to have SOMETHING to start with.

Haha, I WISH!!:D Maybe once the rear clip gets here...;)

Someone on another site a few years ago did a thread on the lids.

He said he made his 33/4 lid from an old aircooled VW bug roof. The weird part was that he said he turned it 90 degrees, so that the front of the roof was one side of the lid, and rear part of the roof was the other side.

He said the curves are right.

hmmm... I think there actually may be a few decrepit old bugs in a yard here but I heard they've been crushing out a lot of older stuff lately. I might just take a crack at wheeling out a skin... I think the inner will actually be more work. I'm not hung up on getting it exactly correct but I'd like it to be pretty darn close. Time will tell, I've got a lot of work to be done before I can even think about tackling that project.

nothing much to report... it was 4* F, snowing, and windy today when I got home from work... I did not venture out to the garage. I did sign into ebay and buy this gem though, funny how that worked out...

a few hours work and some push-me-pull-u with the bar straightening fixture and she'll be right as rain.

    ...er..Ok..if you say so...

Well, Tony just posted...he actually worked on his:D...maybe he can help you get out to the shop through all that terrifying snow.

Nice grille by the way. There must be some sort of bad shipping story that prompted that ebay sale. I don't think I could fix it, but I'd bet you will get it right.

Well, Tony actually IS tough so that makes sense, haha!

yea, the poor guy said someone backed into his car! I've fixed a few that looked FAR, far worse than this one. Ask Jrblack30, he gave me one once that looked like it had been run over by a bulldozer... man it was FLAT, and it turned out really well. In payment I straightened out a slightly less flattened one he has for his 3w.

Oh, I saw the special grille shipping box and just assumed it was a new one that got crushed in shipping.

Honestly, even with working with metal for 45 years...it just seems so far beyond my skills to get brilliant chrome bars to be dead nuts in every possible line of view. Yes, I know that platers deal with that every day, but I know I'd never get it right.

Probably the one the replacement came in I'm guessing... Yea, I don't know about perfect, but I can usually get em pretty damn close. It'll be good enough for this old heap anyhow!

Hey A, you ever hear the expression "the heats in the tools". . .

I can't say much, when I get out of work I usually don't feel like working either.
