Cool is, being able to respond without actually having read the post.....

P.S. I saw a pic of Evel...now that guy was cool. Someone should start a thread.

The guy who was the object of my signature has to be one of the coolest dudes to ever draw breath...............In real life as well as the screen. He was cool on so many levels.
Steve McQueen would be a front runner as well.

Not trying to start something here. I like Evel for his stunt character....But in real life, knowing some of his family friends and hearing some of the things he said or believed in....Well, he was a racist homophobic bigot........... and that is not cool.

That is a Convair B-36 flyin' east down the beach about a hundred or so feet off the deck at Galveston, supposedly in '52. None fly today! The last "official" mission for a B-36 was in April '59. Any of you who ever heard a B-36 will NEVER forget that sound. Six pusher propellers were over 19 feet in diameter. DD

Fair enough. I respect your opinion. So what would be your example of cool?

I was one disapointed 10 year old when I saw Henry Winker in a tv interview. I'm sure he's a great guy...just very,..well..feminine. Not very Fonz like. :)

I respect your opinion too. I was honestly heart broken when I heard what I did. I like Evel. He was a great stuntman. But behind the scenes not so great of a guy. But we all have our demons....What he did in his personal life doesn't diminish his ***le as the greatest stuntman that ever lived....I guess I've just lost some respect for him. I'd like to believe that my idols our as cool in real life as they are on tv. But he did some pretty cruel things to family members...I guess that I am just disappointed. That being said, I still think he is "Cool" he just did some "uncool" things. I would definitely put him on the cool list. Along with McQueen and James dean.

EDIT: Also I would like to add in no way do I have proof of what I have said...it could all be lies. Part of me hopes it is. but the person that told me the stories is a very close friend friend of mine and a friend of one of the family members.

No problem Hitchhiker. It seems to me that many who make a mark in this world have flaws. I suppose it would be better if they all were John Wooden's but it seems to me that to sit on top of a ramp and say to yourself, "this is going to hurt but I said that I was going to do it, so I will" takes a peculiar type of person.

One that society would consider flawed. Someone "normal" doesn't make those jumps. But yeah, some things he did wasn't cool.

When Evel grew up many if not the majority were racist homophobic bigots. That isn't an excuse, it's just that one would hope that if he had been born 30 years later that perhaps those would not be attributed to him.

I dunno, this is off topic for this site but I do consider things like this from time to time. LOL

It is still cool today when they fly the B-17 over the beach.

  19. Cool squared indeed! My JD bows to your Cooler King.

Yeah, hearing him describe almost killing himself the one time he ever rode the Triumph for the opening and getting pushed into scenes because he was afraid of the knuck was sickening. I mean, I knew he was just an actor playing a part but damn.

Must be a good actor, he sure had me fooled. That said, there was something very disturbing about seeing the Fonz get killed off in the (second?) Scream movie. Damn this is getting way OT. I've watched far too much tv in my life.

  21. I always love the sound of radial engines! Even a couple of "Shaky Jakes" in a "Bamboo Bomber". ;)

These TV and movie guys were cool. And they had cool cars, too. I wanted to be like them.
