    when i stayed at my grandfolks place during the summers they had a party line and all of my cousins used to listen to find out where the neighbor girls were going to be. in the early 90's one of the guys i worked with still had a rotory phone and had to use the pay phone because the pagers we had wouldn't work unless you used a push ****on phone. he used to get pissed when you sent him a ******** page and he had to run to the payphone to get the message.
     
  2. 93539 would ring back. Drop off 89, just dial 5-3408 would call Grandpa. Local calls were, from our 895 town code, were on local to one other town, 10 miles from Dad's house. We weren't in town.
