I can't lay flat either on the floor or a creeper any more, my back muscles won't lay flat without major pain so I use one like the big red posted above with the elevating back panel. I have to have it at max or again back muscle pain.

Now there are days at work where I do have to lay flat on the concrete floor to get under a vehicle then I just have to push thru the pain, do the job and be super careful how I move, turn or twist when laying flat or risk even further pain and then it's there for several days.

    Getting old ****s.....

  4. Around the shop my ergonomic creeper is the kid that works there with me. He does all the bending, lifting, loosening, sliding under, fetching and he even provides comic relief and makes great sammichs too. I wouldn't get half as much done if I didn't have my creeper....

And I'm just taking a shot in the dark that those of you who used to get your hair caught haven't had to deal with that for quite some time now. AA11ZQes.jpg

  6. I am sure you are right for most! LOL However at 60 years old...I still have a full head of hair that is about 80% dark brown. The ONLY reason I do not still have hair down past my shoulders is that I transport 6 figure+ cars to Concours Shows & deal with older multi-millionaires on a weekly basis so I keep myself close to "clean cut" as most of these great guys are older conservatives who don't want a long haired "hippy" showing up to take care of their babies for a week at a time! This is just part of giving the customer that feeling of security & trust while their baby is in my charge!

    God Bless

I use one of the exercise mats that have a good cushion and only around $25. They are slippery so sliding under and back out from under a car is easy. I'm 75 years old and it works for me.

i haven't used a creeper for 45 years. i have one but have never used it. i live in the desert and my back yard is all sand. the only cement i have is in the 2 car garage and that is full of a frame jig and lots and lots of tools. no car could even get in there. i'll tell what i have never seen, is a creeper under a car in sand! card board all the way.

Dad always worked on a creeper. Still does. I tried when I was younger, but like other posters I found it moved around a lot. I too use cardboard. My son is in the third year of his apprenticeship and loves his creeper. Go figure.

I suffer from a HAMB curse. Many years ago someone posted that when you get old, it’s hard to pick stuff up off the floor. He said when you bend down to pick something up, you will look around to see what else you can do whilst you are down there. I do that now I am older. I curse the bast?!(&@ and laugh every time I catch myself doing it.

Another poster wondered who the old man was when he heard himself grunting to pick something up. I got that curse too.

    Get off my lawn.

    cheers,
    Harv

  13. I will stick with the card board, I don't think there is a good creeper, they all get hung up on something hit the tire and try to go a different way than you need, Every time I put a tool down it's under the creeper the next time I need it, As for getting up or down the creeper wants to move and i land on my *** on the floor any way. Good luck on you search.

I've never been totally enamored with creepers, yet I have two of them. One is likely over 50 years old and is an old wood creeper with just a padded headrest. The other is a newer metal framed creeper that's a low slung, and that piece of **** has caught sleeves, and pinched my arms more than once! Why it's still here I don't know, as I never use it. I do still use the wooden one, but mostly I toss down a piece of old carpet under the car to do whatever on. Getting up off the carpet seems easier at 72 than off the creeper is.

Yep, my wife convinced me to go back to college and finish my engineering degree instead of continuing on as a custom painter. So, I cut my long hair when I had to get an office job. Thought about growing it back once, but didn’t seem very appropriate as an engineering manager.
