Chicago's "Mr. 50's" Erik Kish, "Hi Fi" of the rockabilly band Hi Fi and The Roadburners, was in a terrible motorcycle crash in Chicago last night and is not going to make it. He has been active in the Chicago music scene and all things fifties for well over twenty years. He was also involved with Fear City Choppers. I am sure alot of you have seen them in concert or at car/motorcycle shows over the years. Please say a prayer for one of my oldest buddies. Thanks- Monster Bob
sad news brother.hate to hear anyone going down on a scooter but thats a chance we that ride all take.ive rode all my life and since 05 im a cripple because of a old woman who couldnt see me. our prayers for your buddy and his family.
We all gathered at "The Space" Thursday night. Friends of Erik's from his High School years through that day. We got a call at 10:20 pm that they had made the decision to disconnect the machines that were keeping him alive. His organs have been donated so that other people have the chance to live through this tragedy. There will be a memorial next Saturday, October 8 at the Space. There will also be a benefit concert in the next month, I will update here with details. Erik was my "brother" for the last 22 years. He is the reason I got into rockabilly, the music, the cars and the lifestyle. I am blessed to have known him and look forward to hearing him rock again when it's my turn to shuffle off this mortal coil.
The memorial is set, doors will be open at 7pm, the event will start at 9pm. The Space is on the corner of Elston & North Ave. in Chicago, big warehouse, look for the garage door on Elston across from Stanley's. The benefit concert is being planned, I'll update with details as soon as I have them.
If you would like to make a donation to Erik's life partner to offset expenses, please do so to this paypal account - erikkishbenefit@gmail.com https://www.paypal.com/
