A guy flew in from Las Vegas and bought the woodie, the nomad, and the 409 QB motor(in pieces). The quality wasn't as nice as the pictures, overall.
Outa my league for sure. Would have been nice to go for the show. Hope my kids can benefit some from all the old junk I collect before I'm gone.
The body alone - 1500.00 Te one with no front axle - 3600.00 The black one - 4700.00 And the last went for 3100.00 And the Hemi with the 727 trans went for 2700.00 unbelievable
The '56 Pontiac turned out to be an ambulance rather than a he****. It sold for $375 when I decided not to bump it to $400, since I already have a '63 Bonneville ambulance in much better condition. The guy from Las Vegas was Randy Kidd, who grew up in Plainview and was a childhood friend of Marvin Marshall. Kidd must have done quite well after leaving Plainview; he flew to the auction in his personal Learjet. I sold the '29 Model A coupe and '64 Grand Prix I consigned, so I considered it a successful auction!
Plainview was pricy for sure. I wanted one of the A coupes but out of my price range. I did pick up a half dozen 94 carbs for $135 (3 oviously off a 3-2, looks like bolt on and run) and some early Ford drums so I was happy. My brother bought this 37000 mile 55 Ford moredoor, really a sweet car and will look great with one of his vintage camp trailers in tow so he was happy and we didn't tow an empty trailer home. A few good buys, we regretted not trying harder on the 56 Buick 2 dr hardtop, preety nice car for $1950 and the 60 T-bird we quit at $2000, sold for $2100. Didn't realize the Bird had fresh upholstery till after, ran, just needed paint. Overall we had a good time, You Texas guys are a great bunch!
