So I'm running a Zenith model 28 on a Continental 245 in my Speedwagon. 2 weeks ago I rebuilt the carb with a Walker brand carb kit, set it and everything ran fine. It idled fine and accelerated fine. Fuel pressure was set at 2 psi. The fuel came from my local gas station; 10% ethanol. Cue me getting sidetracked and working on other stuff. So this evening I go to start ot up and everything leaks. It's dripping fuel down the accelerator pump shaft, the gaskets between the carb and throttle body, and dribbling fuel at a decent clip down the venturi. There is even seepage in the gaskets between the throttle body and the Handy Vari-Speed governor and the intake manifold. I'm assuming the fucking corn gas ate all my gaskets? So does anyone have any input on; 1. Carb kit brands that won't get ruined in a matter of weeks 2. Gasket material that is ethanol resilient 3. Carbs that you don't have to worry about being eaten up. The Zenith is chinsey cast aluminum/potmetal Is everyone here specifically only buying true gasoline, and if that's the case what will be our options in another few years when literally ALL commercially available fuel will have some percentage of ethanol additive because we gotta subsidize "muh farmers"?
I made some gaskets for my lawn mower carburetor out of Teflon [PTFE] sheet. Maybe Viton would work too. I know 10% alcohol gas will distort nitrile o-rings.
