WOW you guys are talking about my little hood all the way in Cali! I live about two miles from the track and you can here it all the way at my house and there is a whole lot of people that live between. I too, like my brother, am sad to see any automotive related venue die, but it really wasn't anything but a bunch of deliverance cast members racing junk yard hatchbacks.

"EVEN" Texas has idiots? This place has been packed FULL of them ever since we got the Yankees from up north and the Mojos from down south. :D

    LOL, I'm KIDDING.

But I don't have a good explanation for this thing.

What cracks me up is everyone (media, police, concerned parents, etc) keeps *****ing about street racing and yet they keep shutting down tracks. At least at a track, it's a controlled environment, there's proper safety measures taken and it's done in an orderly (sort of) fashion. By shutting down tracks, people are making it harder and harder for anyone (both young and old) to go out and race.

[IMG] We here in Connecticut HAD a drag-strip called Connecticut Dragway thanks to the jurks that built there { homes } long after the track was built and complaned about the noise, it is no longer here. She was a great track, there was no need to close it. This is the track where Shirly Muldowney raced her first race and many others raced.

hey - that reminds me... I haven't seen "heart like a wheel" in a long time... what an awsome picture!
There isn't much to mourn here... really! ...if it was a 1/4 mile track I'd be ready to fight about it.

as far as switching what you race.... He might be able to race a miata on a road course 7 miles south of hot rod hill for cheaper than he can race that chainsaw powered sprintcar!
