The photos were taken near the end of the route. I had already dropped off the selectman at the reviewing stage. I could hear people saying wow nice flathead or look at that flathead all the way through the parade route. Thought that was pretty cool.

Depends on how loosely you define "custom" I guess. This one's not completely on topic, but sideways ...... sort of.

Every year I help drive two parades in a "custom" of sorts. ;)

It's powered by a 390FE, and has an old slant 6 as well (for hydro & electric power). It's between 35' & 55' long, usually 18' wide, and often 30' tall. Scratch built chassis, no suspension, crew operated, and a truly killer sound system.

It's our (Sierra Madre's) Rose Parade float, and we drive it in Sierra Madre's Fourth of July parade (unfinished & undecorated), and in the New Year's Day Rose Parade (finished & decorated then of course).

Here's the "body style" from one of our award winners .........

My own favorite (also an award winner) from the past ......

A shot through the "windshield" of one of'em ......

Only problem is that no one ever sees us, just the flowers. :(

Now back to the regular programming. :D

This is the "Float" our car club entered in the 1960 Ogden Utah, Pioneer Days parade. My channeled, flathead powered model A roadster, being towed by Sam Ames 55 Olds.

I was in one a couple of weeks ago in Pawnee, OK. Small town deal, but I couldn't believe all the folks that turned out to watch. There were two drag cars. One was streetable, but one was a funny car. They towed it, but he did fire it up a few times. Really was a good time. Stores all stayed open late. Lots of antique shops to kill time in. Turn out was 200 plus cars they said.

Living a rural county of 20,000 people and owning a convertible, I have been in Christams parades with the Grand marshall and the fairest of the fair,,homecoming parades with the queen and attendants also with our old car club. All were a lot of fun and yes at Christmas don't forget to bring the candy.

Now that's cool as hell, I like the "smoke" around the hides.

We have local cars in our Fourth parade too, but I have to do the float, so can't do my cars.
Some day I'd like to trailer my HAMBster behind my Toad for the Fourth (and add your "smoke" thing :)).

Been in several and they are a lot of fun for the most part. I tend to get nervois, if your car will overheat or vaporlock that will be the time it happens! Luckily the worst I've had was a flathead puke a little at the end. Drove a friend's big block/ 4 speed 39 in a parade once, had the clutch from hell in it, that wasn't much fun!
