I was helping a guy clean out his Dad's Taxi (van) and found a Berreta pistol in the back seat. I gave him $50 for it. Score.
As for the guy that called me a drug dealer earlier. I just saw it as returning something that was not in the deal for the car. It wasn't mine, period.
    Later Josh.

not a h.a.m.b. car but my buddy bought a mazda rx7 from the sheriff impound. when he was guttin it, to road race, he found a golf ball size bag of heroin. He chucked it in the trash, then found a scale and another bag before he called out the sheriff. They had a dog come and smell out about $250,000 worth of drugs. For some odd reason the story never made it to the news???

A few years back a friend who lives next door to a wrecking yard was building a '33 coupe, wanted a 700R4 for it. Obliging neighbour drops off an early '90's Astro van, says "take what you want, I'll pick up the shell." Van is full to the window sills with all manner of crap, rooting through it we find a sealed black plastic box about the size of a video tape. Label on the outside says "Mount Pleasant Cemetery and Crematorium, Last mortal remains of Elizabeth ______" (Don't recall the full name.)
Not a real close family, I guess...

from my truck about 2-3 weeks after i bought it:
    1. some change, about $3-4 in quarters...saving for parking meters.
    2. a pocket knife, the kind from 7-11 with the plastic handle. made it into a key-chain knife.
    3. a ratchet set that has come in handy quite a bit while working on it. it was only missing 1 socket too, a small one (don't remember the size).

In my 72 Monte Carlo, when I had to pull the dash pad off for the first time I found a mustard packet from Arizona and a shopping list in my Grandma's hand writing. (She has very distinctive handwriting)
The car belonged to my grandparents and it had probably been 15-20 years since they had been to Arizona in that car.

I found out the owner before me really liked spray in foam. I have had the truck 9 years and still find bits of it in wierd places.

  8. found a house of pain tape, and a small crossbow with 2 arrows which i immediately shot into the woods and lost, and some sort of metal folding springy billy club.

  9. just bought a '54 chevy post about a month ago and found a playboy from 1968 with the centerfold still intact and the little paper you send in to subscribe. also found a newspaper in the trunk from '67.

When I got married the first time in 1970, our car (1959 Hillman) got belted with heaps of confetti as we left the reception. 1976, now divorced, I'm pulling the old car apart for spare parts for another one, and I find a mountain of confetti still under the seats, floor mats, and even inside the hoodliner.

    That stuff gets EVERYWHERE!

    Cheers, Glen.

I purchased 4 old dodge (49,50,51)cars at an auction, they were old navel base cars all the same battleship grey. I found an un-opened can of Schlitz beer behind the back seat of one. It was one of those you need a can opener for. I placed it on the shelf in the garage for years, and one day it got so hot in the summer it split open at the seam and the beer stink lasted for another year.

Found in a true barn find. Bought a 40 Ford Sedan Deluxe from a widow, she and her husband went on their honeymoon in it. It had been sitting on blocks in their old barn since 1963 when he started restoring it. I bought the car from her and brought it home and ripped into it. I found documents from the early 40's through the sixties. A LIFE magazine about JFK's assasination, a letter from a soldier in WWII thanking his sister for sending him some of her ration stamps so he could buy some extra shoes. The car was/is a rolling time capsule of documents and magazines for the 60's service stations, he owned a Sinclair station in Conyers, Ga. Even the oil change stickers on the door are from his station with his signature.

Also found this in a Mustang fastback my son and I drug home...

I was taking the body off of my '73 Impala and found between the frame and the body a Pabst Blue Ribbon bottle opener, how I got there I don't know. But I'm putting it back when the car is done.

When I got my 56 Ford in 1962, I got a rattle with it. The dealer who had bought it at a farm auction couldn't locate the occasional rattle so he gave up. When I bought the car (600 hard earned bucks) he told me of the occasional rattle. Well, it took at while but I finally heard the rattle on a rough dirt road. When I got home I started searching and after a while I found a small bag under the rear seat tied to the springs of the bottom cushion. Inside the bag was 22 marbles and 11 Double Eagle gold pieces. Still got the bag, marbles and gold, but not the car.

I had an '84 Cadillac hearse about a year ago, purely for the shock value of driving a hearse to school, and found latex gloves, body bags, wake programs, and mrs.winners sweet tea cups.

Heard a story of a guy that brought a 60's hearse home from a junkyard, complete with "display" coffin... a few months later when he finally started on the project and actually opened the coffin, he found the remains of a body in it.... turned out it was an old murder victim.

I was ajusting the passenger door on my 56 truck 3 weeks ago. Every time I moved the door , I could here something moving in side the door. I looked in side to see what it was... Boy was suprized. There was my hard boiled egg I lost when drove in the Billetproof Antioch two years ago. I remember looking for it after I parked, it was on the seat when I left the motel.
I have a six inch speaker hole in the door that the previous owner left for me. I guess it rolled off the seat and into the hole in the door.
    Mystery solved....

That the uglist puppy I ever saw...

In an original owner (91 year old lady) I just bought I opened the ash tray and found rolls of those breathsavers that Grandma's are so fond of.:) One was liquid filled and the centers had dissolved and turned to a rust like consistency.

Today, I pulled the headliner out of my '31 Coupe and found that it was stuffed with newspaper. Most of it was fragile bits too small to read. One larger piece showed a picture of Harry Truman and said, "A happy former president Harry Truman returns to his home in Missouri." What a hoot!

small floor jack, 8bucks in change, roach clip, 70dollar buckknife, tools in my 69Fury2door.

  30. Bought an old Mustang that had a dime bag of weed, pack of zig-zags, pack of truck stop condoms and a rusty Llama .38 revolver stashed in the heater box.

Pulled the gas tank out of an old Ford pickup, found a nice set of 1/4" drive Craftsman sockets, so old it was in a metal box. Also was steak knives, green stamps, zippo lighter.

My Mom had a 70 Thunderbird. I blew out the speakers listening to Led Zeppelin on the 8 track. Replacing the speakers I found a pneumatic screw gun and about a hundred self-tapping screws under the back seat.
