After searching for a while i finally found a model A pickup. its missing the one rear fender, i contacted Mike's A fordable A's and after a brief conversation he informed me i had a late 31 closed cab wide bed pickup, pretty rare. no fender from him. Any ideas on where to get one?. i was going to put a flathead in it, buy a regular bed, quick change and a dropped front end. now i think i may put it back stock, its drivable. the drive train has been done. i drove it onto the flatbed that hauled it home. Hotrod it or paint it and drive it the way it is? any full fender A pickup's here? i need some inspiration.
did you try brookville? i really dont know of all they offer but you might ask, and if they dont maybe they can point you in the right direction
Something is not looking quite right on your late 31 steel cab. You are right Henry made a steel top in late 31 with a wide bed. The gas tank I see is a different color. Do you have the indented teardrop style firewall?? It takes a different tank. Does it have the steering column support bracket attached to the cowl framing insteads of the tank? On the roof just over the windshield headed there should be something like 4 countersunk looking screws that attached the steel top to the wood header. I can't see these on your cab. It appears you have the 31 splash aprons but the radiator shell is 30 car as well as the lights. Overall it's a really nice looking truck and worthy of the resto but I wonder if it's an original steel roof. Would need more pics of the top to determine that. I have seen them with the wide bed as well as the standard bed but I do think they all came with the wide bed and were probaly changed out over the years. Those wide beds take different rear fenders then the normal pick up. They are around but pricy. The key to me is the firewall, gas tank & better pics of the roof to determine if it's an original steel top.
My late 31 is going to have a regular bed and 28 fenders, so you don't have to use the wide bed if you don't want to. They will both bolt on. Sell the wide bed to someone that has to have it and build what you like.
On something rare or really nice I'm usually chiming in to leave it alone. I'd do whatever I wanted here. Go for it.
