Hot Rods EVER FINISH A HOT ROD OR CUSTOM & NOT ENJOY IT AS MUCH AS WHEN IT WAS UNFINISHED?

Enjoyed this tub a bunch in primer, painted it and had to be real careful, garaged it for several years then sold it.

 

There's really something to be said for having a car that is nice, but not tooooooooooo nice. Where the car isn't perfect and has some wear and defects, but looks great going down the road, isn't an embarrassment, and you're not constantly answering the question about when you're going to finish it. A good "cruise night" car, not a car to compete for awards at an indoor show.

I will also say though, it never gets tiring to have a car that is completely mechanically done. A strong engine with good compression and oil pressure that doesn't smoke tor leak. A trans that shifts the way its supposed to. Good brakes, cooling, fuel system, etc. Even if the rest of the car looks like hell, it never gets old not having to stress or give thought to what else needs to be fixed next. Just get in and go.

 

Every now and then I remember my mom saying to me, " your never happy with what you have, having what you want is the trick to being content"..
