I know the forum is trying to reign in O/T stuff, but I found these tonight and just had to share 'em! If they are too wildly O/T, lock this puppy down, but laugh a little first, please.

See, the meaning of the title is very simple, have you ever had "just one of those cars" that has an unlucky streak a mile wide? I mean one where anything and everything that can and WILL happen, simply does? I do. My beloved Plymouth was described here by ElPolacko as being "driven like a teenager rides a skate board, and then fixed again". He meant that as a compliment! Anything that can befall a car, will, to it. I mean, really, what other car gets hit while stopped by 8 under aged illegal aliens in a stolen Yugo?

For the first twenty years I lived in my 1910 bungalow, I was very proud of my large Ash tree in my front yard. As far as I knew, it was original to the home. One afternoon in 2007, I was washing dishes as a typical Phoenix dust storm came rolling in (okay Haboob, for those of you not completely amused at people stupid enough to live in the hottest city on earth!). I walked out to the front window to see how bad it was, and noticed my prized tree doing a weird assed Hula dance. Next thing I know, THIS happened... Ya, that!:D

Man that bites. Like the tree was aiming for it. Love bungalows, by the way.

It survived okay, just some broken windows and a few small dents. At least until the little old lady in a P.T. Cruiser made a left hand turn in front of it a few years later. Almost mended from that little adventure.

I've got to believe that something had to have happened in the "few years" between the tree and the PT.

  6. I had a daily driver Toyota pick-up that I bought totaled, (and in the following 3 years) rebuilt, (custom paint) hit a deer, repainted entire truck, hit another deer, patched it together for the winter hit another deer, totaled, rebuilt, rear ended a Geo tracker, totaled again, let the insurance company have it. The truck was totaled 3 times, killed 3 deer and left a scratch on the rear bumper of the Geo.
Only have had 1 minor damage accident since, also a deer. (18 years)

Ya, about 25,000 miles and the infamous "file cabinet" incident!

Truth be told, in it's 21 years as my daily it's been pronounced dead three times by three different insurance companies, had a tree fall on it, drove through a flood that killed the electricals, driven through a tornado, driven through snow storms, hit a valet stand at a high end shopping center at the hands of a former girlfriend, raced, defied physics (according to ElPolacko) and generally ridden hard and put up wet. None of the actual accidents have ever been ruled my fault. It's put down close to 250,000 as a hot rod, ad when it goes back together again, it'll be ready for 250,000 more!

Jus' 'till these guy showed up and hauled it all away! It's kinda hard to think in terms of fire wood when it had just been a round the clock average of 102 degrees for the proceeding 4 months! I laughed my ass off when on the occasion of my first real trip to the east coast, one of my employees suggested that I pack a "summer jacket" in August.... I remember thinking "what the f**k is a summer jacket, and why would anybody need one?"...

Wifey, G.F. at the time, had a hatchback from a far away land her folks got her when she graduated high school. Within weeks someone ran a stop sign and hit it. Fixed it and a wheel barrel hit her on the freeway. Fixed it and she slid into a parked car on ice. Fixed it and someone hit her in a parking lot. Fixed it and on and on. I finally solved the problem by stuffing it backwards into the center divide near Sacramento kinking the roof and shoving an I beam through the floor. It only had 36k on it and I hope someone crushed it like Christine. My current daily loves to be dented on the passenger side. Three times with the former owner and 1 deer, 1 delivery truck, 1 lane change rage incident under my care. Fix it and it happens again.

I have to come clean and admit that I am just sort of a bad luck character in the first place. I always have been the guy that if something totally inconceivable were to happen, it would happen to me.

I had a toyota truck that just kept making me money. it was pretty cool. Had a guy pull out in front of me and got 2250 then fixed it for 300. Then had home depot drop an air compressor on it got 2400 and fixed it for 500 i think. Then i sold it and the guy was supposed to do some work on my house and he did a little work but tried to dissapear on me and i found the truck and took it back. It had a cabinet the guy was suposed to build for me on it. Then i sold it to a buddy for a 1000. I bought the truck for 3 grand.

Yep. Had a tree fall right dead center on my '51 Ford. Didn't hit the shed in front or house behind. All electric wires above remained untouched.....

I remember when that Happened to you Pete! It was after mine, and I knew exactly how you felt, 'cept yours was far worse than mine.

Ya, amongst my friends, the bad luck thing with me is quite a comedic bit of gold. Take for instance, April 14th of this year. My girlfriend is back in Hong Kong, her miserable but brand new Honda has set in the driveway because I refuse to drive it. I moved it to the street one night to get another hot rod out of the back yard, and then leave it on the tiny, quite street in front of our house over night. It would be enough to say it got hit by a drunk driver and leave it at that... But no. It was hit by a drunken neighbor who then crashed his BMW into another neighbors front yard, crawled out of the car and as he staggered to his condo at the other end of the street called it in as stolen. That would be bad enough, but this jackass is a foreign consulate working in Phoenix and has complete and total diplomatic immunity! And, to top it off, I got jailed for trying to get a simple accident report that after noon! See what I mean?

Chip, that's a great house! All homes should have porches.

Question, do we get to see a re-build thread on the present changes to your Plymouth?

And in response to the original question, yes, mine was a '66 Satellite. Rear ended 2 times, first by a drunk college kid at about 15 mph as I was pulling in my driveway, he called daddy and had cash in my hand the next day. Next time I was sitting at a red light, insurance totalled and I bought the car back. Trunk floor was buckled a bit, then a bit more, but junkyard bumpers saved the day. Somehow the bondo never fell out of the rear quarters in either collision!

Had an OT Jeep. Tierod fell off as I was getting off the highway. Got hit in the parkinglot 3x by people over the age of 70. Check eng light was on for 5 years... No one could get it to go out. It caught fire and was parted out. Gave the eng to a friend. He switched out the everything attached to the eng. Put it his Jeep and the check eng light came on.

Looks like I'm in for it then:
[IMG] Never have figured out how tall the ones behind the house are but about 60 or 70 ft.
I did have one blow over a few years ago and take out the roof.

My 51 Merc was my "one of those cars" I wrecked just after my 17th birthday when I hit a 62 impala that was too far out in the street behind a body shop, then years later the hood blew off and punched hole in my grandparents camp trailer. After I got it running again some 90 year old woman backed into it in a parking lot and never knew she hit anything and then one of my summer school students backed into it inside the shop and floored his car rather than hitting the brakes. Both of those shots were on the right front fender on a welded together front end.

Louvers, the pictures don't show any obvious damage, did I miss if there was any?
Looked like the small branches hit you, good thing it doesn't have a expensive paint job though. You don't want to break that back glass either.

It did get the back glass, the drivers quarter window, and left a bunch of variously sized dents in the roof. That was the third back glass in that car, as about a year earlier I had found out that the absolute top speed of the car was 142... That's where it ejects the rear glass.

I had one of those cars..
    Ot for sure...but..
It had new factory gm rear quarters on it when I got it..
My son borrowed it..when his wife called him during rush hour commute to tell him that they were expecting triplets....
    Rear ended on freeway..
After 2 MORE rear enders in less than 2 years. ..I sold it because I could not find the big magnet on the rear end....

I bought an OT 2 door to drive for the winter, just went to an auction and picked one out. Got rear ended on the drive home, slow speed bent the bumper, I stopped to look at a 66 fairlane and the owner got in the car started it turned itoff and while were talking the fairlane rolled down the driveway made a reversre u turn and hit my OT car sitting on the same side of the street. Now the rear bumper and drivers fender are bashed. The bondo quickie paint job poped off the passenger 1/4 during the first freeze. Paint started sheeting of the hood. Then the head gasket blew. The oil and coolant were free flowing, both looked like chocolate milkshake and it was only December. I drove it like that until May1 and parked it. Before the scrapper came to pick it up in July I was pulling anything useable off, decided to start it up. Threw a brick on the accelerator, that v6 kept running, the manifolds were glowing, plastic was melting in the engine compartment and it never did blow. I paid $850 for the car, tax title etc, and received $2300 in insurance payouts.

I never had one ,but a buddy had an every day driver back in the 70s that got hit hard in the front. The insurance paid to have it clipped & when it was fixed he drove it 4-5 months then it was hit in the rear,& was clipped again. So the whole car had been replaced. He was always laughing about he had a new car without paying for it

I bought a nice little 69 Chevy shortbed stepside 4x4.straight body, 350, 4speed. after the first month, It decided to break in ways I have never seen every time I drove it. Too many to list, but here is a few. Started it up to go to the grocery store, one of the brake lines from the master broke, in the middle of the section. I was coming home from a swap meet in Sacramento, the steering box decided to lose 2 bolts and almost fell off. pulled out of my driveway one morning, chucked the driveshaft and destroyed the rear yoke. Clutch ball on block broke, ignition switch broke at dump, frame broke in half in Reno, driveshaft broke at transfer case, and then there was the engine, but I will stop here. I think I made it 9 months before I had it.
My 59 is becoming the same way, simply because of its former field car status. evertime i take her out, I get 2 hours of repairs in return, the latest is my rag joint came loose on the steering box. Fixed that, the Rag joint is shot, and somehow the lower steering column bearing, which is relatively new, has disintegrated. oh well.

Hopefully that rear window is easier to find in your area.

Well, I should have thought when I posted this thread the other night. I went out to lunch with some friends this afternoon and came home to my current (and only) driver looking a little like this...

Another drunk driver from the ultra luxury high rise condo's at the end of my otherwise turn of the century restore street. Same place the last one from April came from. This one hit and ran and tried to park her car in the underground gated garage (hit the gate, too) and wouldn't answer her door until the Police came. She's insured luckily, but it's gonna get ugly I'm sure.
