yes it is... i don't think you'll ever find yourself cruisin' a drop top impala and saying, "damn, i really miss that montclair"

  3. I just sold off a bunch of project cars, to buy one that is alot closer then the bunch I had here. And its a way nicer start too. Plus my son was bugging me to buy him a new moto-x bike and I've been telling him I don't have the money to buy him a new bike. BUT then I have 5 rusty old project cars sitting there and he knows I won't get to half of em in the next 6 or 7 years realistically, so it wasn't really fair to him right. So I got a cool car I can get out this spring and bought him a new moto-x bike! I'll replenish the fleet soon enough.
I also sold off everything about 5 years ago to buy my house and acreage, don't regret it one bit. Cuz now I have a massive shop, cool property and a full on moto-x track in my yard to ride on everyday!

Usually i have to sell one to get another but rarely have nothing. Even buy them back if opportunity comes up.

I sold my '29 A pickup and the wifes '51 Ford in August to buy a '32 5W project. I still miss the '29,but spending time with the '32 in the garage helps me get over it.

  7. I'm going to sell everything to pay of my...gulp...credit card debt.

Like my Dad says: there is ALWAYS another one.

I have cleaned out heaps of times. If you buy right to start with you can't go wrong, and with cash in pocket you are ready jump on the next good deal. I love dealing them as much owning them.

Yes when i read the title of this thread.

Sold off all of my vintage vw collection a dozen years or so ago to pay bills, it ended up being a good thing as i then went off the deep end with traditional hot rods, my property looks like a vintage wrecking yard.

38FLATTIE!!! You're selling your '56 Mercury and your '52 Cadillac, but you're not selling your '38 Caddy, are you?! I saw the flathead Cad engine you're building for your '38 coupe, and it's one of the most beautiful engines I've ever seen! You didn't mention it, so I imagine you're gonna continue with the build. BTW, I don't think you told us what your new "dream car" is...fill us in, buddy! And show pics when you can. Good luck with everything. - Rick

Concerning my stuff...I've wanted to build a hot rod roadster from a pile of parts since I was a kid. I'm 52 now. Gotta get it in gear. I have the pile. I've been tempted to sell my '37 Chevy coupe and my '47 Hudson super six coupe to fund it, but I just can't. I like the idea of having the 3 different styles covered...roadster to bomb around in, coupe to tear up the streets, and Hudson for a nice smooth Sunday driver. If I can sell my completely disassembled '48 Chevy coupe, that would help. So much to do...so little time! I'll get there.

  21. I cleared everything out except my '60 F-100 when I bought my first house...mortgage broker told me I needed $XX,XXX in my savings before my loan would go through. Said good-bye to my Shovelhead, my '54 F-100, a '64 Lincoln, '70 Lemans, and a shit pot of parts...

The '60 I bought when I was 16. It knows waaaaaay too many of my secrets.

    Rickybop,

No, the Blown '38 is not going to be sold. It's my true love when it comes to cars.

My girlfiend of cars is a '58 Impala convertible! So, the Montclair and Caddy have to go!

  24. I've thought about it but it would be too much of a hassle, its bad enough trying to sell one. Besides as someone said on here you couldn't afford to buy them back. Although there will be a time when those that appreciate this stuff, grew up with it and understand it will be too old or gone! The replacement culture may not be there. Although with 4 boys, one being a rockcrawler:), one being a drift racer:mad:,:(, one with a 68 Camaro:cool:, and the 11 year old able to tell the difference between all the 57 Chevy models;), I've tried to keep it going! The thought of letting years of gathering go is simply a state of mind that will pass. It is best to keep about 100,000 in the sock drawer in case you find another one for your tin pile!:D

Wow. You're gonna end up with two extremely desirable cars. Good for you, 38FLATTIE. Worth it to sell the other two.

Havent gotten that far, but im not buying ANYMORE cars for awhile, that is of course unless a really good deal comes up... yea why fucking bother. I do what I want when I want, no regrets.

I am however focused on finishing one car before I start on another. Buying, selling, slinging and trading is different. I have my keepers and my trading material.

Everyday. But nobody wants my junk.

But not having to stare at it, means no headaches.

    Congrats for you, though.
