For what it’s worth and that’s not much I’ve run many in lines. Any aftermarket intake usually suffers from this issue.Ive seen it several times. Both casting issues and clearance issues.
My last 235 project is long gone. But one trick I was taught was to use the COE exhaust manifold common on the 46-54 big trucks. ( up Draft carb). Not all after market intakes will have the factory heat box mounting etc.
Take the exhaust manifold and cut it right behind the heat/flapper box. Weld up the end of the rear section with a very small plate. There is your rear header.
Take your original and cut off the rear section and weld up the end with a small plate. Grind and clean up and bolt on. Gives factory exhaust flanges on both manifolds and allows you to keep the factory heat box for better drive ability and seals very will using factory stuff. Even the factory accelerator linkage worked if I remember correctly /or at least the foot pedal /crank and up leaver did.
I let WA Hankins in Tupelo MS have my intake and exhaust manifolds a good many years. went to 230/250/292 stuff.
    You did well.

  4. A friend of mine who restores Corvettes and races vintage stock car with us has a complete intake reasonably priced, but I have too many irons in the fire right now.
