Projects Ever sell a car...then buy it back?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Barsteel, Apr 29, 2016.

  1. I usally have old station wagons like my avatar and my my 56 buick wagon but this ones newer.12 years ago I sold my 1971 flat top olds cutl*** station wagon. Fast forward 12 years and I found an ad for it. It was about an hour and a half from me. I went to see it and it had been sitting in a dark garage for the last 10 years.I poured some gas down the carb and it started up.I shut it off right away. I bought it back and took me about 2 months of work to get everything working and un frozen again,{tail gate wouldn't even open or the rear window wouldn't work} You know deal, sent the gas tank out and went thru the brakes, replace the bad steering column, new tires, the whole works. The 12 year paint job I put on it is pretty rough due to all the bird poop. I plan to paint her back to her original lighter blue color as seen in the door jams here. People just crowd around it when I get gas or they see me loading it with the tail gate down loading food from shopping. Its like finding an old friend again and this one isn't going any where this time. P.S. the wife loves the way she rides down the road too. She didn't like the 56 buick wagon. Heres the color shes going back to. Bruce. 001.JPG

a O/T Pontiac I had in High school and sold to pay for college ( bartered a beater for school) in 85 , got a call from the guy I sold it too in 92 says motors a knockin , bought it back for $500 ( sold it for $2500 ) and there was only 1200 miles more on the clock , rebuilt the motor and ex wife totalled it when I told her not to drive it 2 years later in a Ice storm , still have the motor and trans and the truck lid ..

The following four photos are of the same car over a 54 year period. I bought the car in 1962 out of a field in southern Maryland for $25.00.

I made it into a race car and had a blast with it for 5 years. Sold it in 1967.

After 32 years and 6 owners, the car resurfaced in 1999 at the swap meet in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. It was purchased by a gentleman in Wayne, Michigan.

Luckily I was able to buy it back in November of 2000. Here it is now, I am still having a blast with a long lost old friend...

  5. There is a C10 running around here that I have owned at least half a dozen times. Funny thing about it is that the missus and I stuffed a small block 4 speed in it in Oregon before we headed back this way in the early '70s and sold it to fund out escape (LOL). it made its way back here with the guy we sold it to, he ran out of money and the second time we owned it was for bus fare and hamburger money so he could go home.
