If you really think about it, there must be at least 400 things a day that PISS YOU OFF. What's another couple?

    Get over it.

At least that's how I deal with it.

  2. I don't know where you live in minn. but I went to 5 shows 2 had swaps...
I pushed my granddaughter around in her pedal car stroller and did not think much of my own unfinished cars... even when getting more wheels and tires than needed at the swaps..

Take some time at these shows and swaps for inspirational and motivational adjustment...
IT WAS TO HOT TO WORK THIS WEEKEND ANYWAY.....

Back to the 50's is weeks away cheer up dammit!

Just take a break. You'll regret the sell-off. Been there, done that. There's no cure. So just try to roll with it. Go see a movie or something.

I have to have alot of projects. When one stalls due to parts needed or ******* me off. I move on to something different. The key is to have one car thats done or a driver, and not all projects. Works for me.

You could remove my nuts, pull my teeth, bash me in the head, lose my job, kick my dog, take my wife and I will never give up! Wait a minute I take one back, if you kick my dog I will kick your ***. When I croak my wife tells me she is going to cremate my *** and seal me up in a 97 carburetor and put me on the mantle.

I've been thinking about selling my house, setting up a little apartment in my shop, and getting rid of a few cars, so I could live debt free and just play with old cars all day. We'll see how that goes.[/QUOTE]

i know the feeling.....i sold a couple cars last winter so i can try and do something similair....now spending my time and car money on a small house to sell ....to try and pay off my my house....still have hot rods.....just nothing running....hopefully i will have the t running by the end of july .....but if not no biggie.....i hope to have the house finished by august....and on the market ....then i will see how things go .....i think everyone has those days.....i hear it from my customers all the time......haha brandon

Didn't we just go through this with Mike Brimm (Kustombuilder)? I remember the best advice that was given during that whine fest. Sell everyting you've got to a REAL hot rodder and go do something else. Anything, just don't mess with cars again. Remember that? Good advice, take it and don't let the door hit you in the *** on the way out. Pretty brutal but again, the best advice given on that thread.
One other thing, and this was given to me by the wisest man I ever knew (my grandfather). When your shaving (or brushing your teeth) your looking at the one individual that's responsible for 95% of everything thats wrong with your life. Come to grips with that fact, do something about it and move on. Or, you can always go and see if your mommy wants to hold your hand and make all the bad things go away. Your choice (mom won't be thrilled if you choose option #2, she's already done her job).
If this thread is an attempt to gain sympathy or attention shame on you, I don't think Ryan wants to hold your hand either. Seek professional advice, no one here is qualified to help with your problem, only enter into an endless debate with no real solution.

Must be something in the air. I seriously thought about clearing the place out and building a sailboat today. I went out to cut up a parts car and s**** it. First thing that happens is my oxygen regulator pukes. I put on the spare and it pukes.....then a jackstand slipped and pushed a sharp piece of metal right through my thumb, then I burned my other arm on a hot piece of steel from when the torch was working. I could walk away and be happy on a day like this, but will wait till tomorrow and see how it goes.

Ok here's some cheese for ya...:D

Anyways, close the place up and go for a ride. Don't go anywhere related to cars or hot rods. Cruise a country road and look at the scenery. Smell the scents of nature. Go see something nearby that you always say "...one of these days...". The next time you go out everything will look different and you'll feel like the superhero of hot rods.

One more thing...BUY SOME NEW ****IN COFFE CUPS!!!

    Cheers bro.

No, Hell NO! I have only been working on my old cars for a little over 45 years. Since I retired several years ago, its all I do all day every day and I have NEVER thought about quitting old cars. I will kill myself before I will give up old cars. I have NEVER owned a new car and never will. My most modern driver is a 1959, but I rarely drive it. My other cars are old

    Fiddy,
Man, I think its time to quit buying all that cheap **** (coffee cups and dead blow br*** hammers that the head falls off of) and get good stuff. Sounds to me like your considering selling off the wrong stuff. And where the hell were you going to move too?

I think you should take a real long break from working on the Wilys. Then you can drive yer wifes mini van to the HAMB Drags so you won't have to race me! Chicken! :p I've heard of some really poor excuses before, but these three (only 3??? That's it??? That's all you got???? *****! ) are about the lamest I ever ever heard.

And so, you've pissed away the day (Did it fall off?) and now you are farther behind then you were before. I worked on my car all day. Didn't get much done, one step forward, two back, (interior work ****S) it was still a lot better then working on someone elses stuff. :D

Yes, Because when you turn 2 a year is 50% of your life,
when you turn 100 a year is only 1% of your life,

No kidding???? It must be in the water lately.......

Fiddy, Caffiene, I feel for ya both right now. I've had some serious thoughts that way lately. Sell everything that you can't currently walk out and turn the key on and drive around the block.

Initially it crossed my mind when a car I would really love to own came up for sale. I inventoried my ****/stuff/****, and WOW I'm sitting on a lot of it, and serious $$$'s when you start adding it together. I gave it 24 hours, and realized, yeah I could liquidate and own that car, but it would still be known as "X's" car. But I was thinking the easy way out, if I went that route, think I'd have all that extra time with the wife, friends, etc.....

Now I've got it stuck in my head, it'd be so much easier if I just settled, sold out and had other people do my work. Less h***le maybe????? But wait, I'm into this **** for the shop time, its therapy.

If you're having trouble with it all. Walk away, log off the HAMB, and mark 30 days on your calendar. Dont pick up a rod mag in the ****ter or anything. Dont even open the garage. And you'll soon realize the whole "Abscence makes the heart grow fonder"

When I start feeling like I've dug myself too deep of a hole, I usually wander over to Tuck's shop for a bit. I'm sure he just LOOoooves it, but it's very inspiring to see what he's got going on, and his enthusiasm is contagious!

Maybe go for a day trip looking for cars in fields, or visit some of us local HAMBer's... chat about someone else's project for a while, it'll get you enthusiastic about yours again, real quick! :)

  22. Dude I was just there only 2 days ago. The rebuild of my engine held a lot of delays and problems and after all the work, and all the pain in the *** just to get it back in, I forgot something and so it had to be pulled back out again, then back in and I swore if it didn't start I was gonna go ape ****. I was pissed because all the guys I've helped were no where to be found to lend a hand. I was pissed because I had been cooped up in the shop for so long. Ever see that movie with tom hanks talking to a soccer ball? Yeah mine's name was Flippy, and he was a shop rag. Okay it wasn't that bad but seriously it blew. It all came together though and was worth all the work.

Normally hearing the violins like this I would say "whatever queer, sell it get lost, move to the mountains" but having just been there myself, I have to say "hang in there man, it'll get better."

gotta say, the brutal honesty and FUNNY as hell comments made me feel a LOT better yesterday. . . and they still do today.

yea, i felt like a failure, doomed forever to drive late model ****boxes and the only too i was going to use the rest of my life was a church key.

however i guess it was you guys, and this place, cause i got back up...dusted off and finished grinding off all the **** on that axle that dint look like it belonged on a rod, power washed it, bolted wheels on it and stuffed it under the frame just to have a looksee. . . need different wheels to get the thing to fit better but what the hell... bad day in the shop is better than a good day doing anything else...

THANKS fellas. . . i needed a good kick in the *** and someone to pick me up after the *** kickin :D:p

Chill for a couple of days. You really do not have it to bad ( a Willys ! ). I'm waiting on a call from the DR. that may change my life right now. Suddenly Hot Rods do not seem that important.

I've ignored my cars and parts countless times over the years. As I tell my horse loving cousin, if I get tired of MY hobby and want to ignore it for a while, I don't have to continue to feed it and shovel up **** the whole time!

  26. Damn right about that, I mentioned medical reasons in part for my apethy towards building and got told to stop wining.

  27. Talk like that will get you booted outta the Vagabonds...............

  28. You're doing the right thing. Take a day or two off. Do something else, like relax. Then get back at it. I have to do that from time to time.

By the way, my financial investment advisors told me NOT to sell out. They said stuff is appreciating in value and if and when I do want to hang it up, it'll be an ALL cash return on my investment. As in like, NO TAXES :D . I like these guys ;) .
