Got a 48 zephyr rear end for free. Anybody on here ever use one in a hot rod? Is it worth messing with?

It's a totally different animal than early Ford--it has low mounted driveshaft and pinion with hypoid gears. Only minor differential parts are same as Ford. Most are 4.44 ratio, I believe, ideal if you have Lincoln gears and overdrive but way too low if not using OD. And of course it has Lincoln brakes.
I'd guess that using it would be just like using any Ford rear if it's dimensionally OK for what you are building. There are Lincoln parts dealers, but in general V12 Lincoln stuff is scarce and expensive, so I would consider it only if it seems to be in good shape internally.
