It'd probably work, but it'd be a bitch to get em in there! :D

  2. Grump back in the later '60s and into the '70s I know for sure that you could get balance rings for cars. I remember seeing them advertised but I don't recall where. Of course given the time frame it could just be a figment of my imagination.

Hey does anyone know where to buy flame paint? I got a gallon of blue and white striped paint at the swap meet once but I'm into flames now.

My father had some for his car in the late '70's. I got a set from Centramatic a number of years ago. They work.

Wouldn't you need to put them in all fore tires?

  5. Funny you brought this up, I use tennis balls to balance my tires NOT golf balls They work great, actually make a lot less RACKET, than golf balls, don't damage the inside of the wheels, and after driving for awhile once the tire gets hot it gets a warm fuzzy feeling inside.

    Now I'm outta here.

  6. An old timer around here told me if you use WEIGHTS, you won't have to use golf balls:p

You probably have not tried to balance a large off-road tire. Wheel weights do not always work.

I wend to DynaBeads on the OT/DD when two tire shops stopped trying to balance my tires after they ran out of wheel to stick weights to. This was after dismounting and remounting several times in an attempt to offset mass.

Also, balance beads are dynamic, not static. If I take a 6oz. chunk of rubber out of a tread block on the trail, me and my rig are not shaken to pieces on the way home.

Never tried Golf balls, must be some low land critter. Up here in the rockies only Jackalope balls will do in the car. Use Rocky Mountain Oysters in your truck. Make sure they're dead or held down real good first. They might take offence if ya jist whip out yer buck knife and go to skinnin' and some of those big range bulls can make yer life interestin' fer sure if you ain't first to the fence...

I heard golf balls keep you on course,(another form of cruise control, i guess) plus you can only use them with your daily driver.

What do you think happens after say a few thousand miles of friction when the cover wears through the golf ball? Can you say rubber bands?

Now there's an ol' skool guy...they haven't put rubber bands in golf balls in years!

Yeah, but just like most things that are traditional they are really hard to find and when you do they're usually in need of some work....and far to valuable to put inside a tire!
