Herbie Rides Again is notable for Stefanie Powers in a mini skirt...I think there were cars in a few scenes too

That's one of the main reasons I watch them....felt a little ill the other day as I watched the Three Stooges destroy a brand new '36 Ford coupe.........

I`m forever catching things and words or phrases that are not from the era of the movie. Sometimes I think I`m watching "Airplane" again.. The same with "That 70`s show" TV commercials are the asolute worse for mistakes. Phew, finally got that off my chest.

It's disappointing when I'm watching a documentary on History Channel, and the voiceover is talking about something that happened in '58,or so,and the big city street scene showing is full of '63 models, then I wonder how accurate any of it really is,or if the producers just splice in any old B&W shit to make their film.A lot of the so-called 50s docs are like that.Kinda spoils the authenticity of the whole show to me.

Man,I sat through that piece of crap "Havana" with Robert Redford three times just for cars in it. And the worst thing is probably sit through it again next time it's on!

I quit watching movies after Harrison Ford wrecked a 49 Chevrolet sedan in the latest Indiana Jones flick.

I watched the last half of "Merrily We Live" on TCM Sunday morning. 37 Ford woody, 37 Packard 12 Conv Victoria, 37 Ford sedan, 37 or 38 Buick Conv Sedan, and mostly, a Duesenberg roadster with Rollston coachwork. I'm pretty sure it's the same car that was once owned by Gable but it was dark colored with a single spare.

The original "Thomas Crown Affair" with Steve McQueen is great for cars, notably Ferraris.

There's an old Ronald Reagan movie about auto insurance/accident fraud from the mid 30s. Talk about cars...

How about "Public Enemy" with James Cagney? "Hey stoop! There's gears in there, that ain't no Ford!" Talking about his 29-30 Cadillac conv sedan.

I coulda done a shorter post and just said, well, yeah...who don't?

Yes I look at the cars to tell when the movie was made.

I like in modern movies that take place in the30-40's all the cars are all rusty. They wouldnt have rusted that quick, would they??

  20. I've never seen vintage cars in any of the movies I've watched.

Note to self: Try to diversify....there are other genres besides porn.

I frequently turn to TCM to see if there are movies playing that were made in the late '30s and early '40s. That's the style I like!

  23. 1963 James Garner in The Wheeler Dealers, I love old Chryslers. Notice the reclining seat and dual car phones, 1963? Look at the pictures then ckick the link and check out the car in action. Watch the whole clip. Check out how much cost to use the car phone.

http://www.imcdb.org This site has just about every car in every film, even if it's just sitting in the background. You can search by movie or make/model. Lots of cool vintage pics.

it's always cool to look at old rides in movies, and sometimes it's even funnier to look at mistakes, in the last indiana jones and in the movie about wolverine there are some harley davidson, they build up the bikes like old 40's and 50's models, but leaving disc brakes or modern engines...

Yeah if not saying it out loud I'm naming the make and year to myself.

I get pissed when I spot a 48 Chevy in a WWII movie. They are a lot better at it lately.

I saw "Bonnie and Clyde" on TCM a week or so ago where among other things they steal Gene Wilder's car when he and "Velma" were sitting on the front porch.

Does anyone know what kind of car that was? I never did figure it out...

During the whole climax of Peter Jackson's King Kong I kept hoping they didn't actually destroy all those Model T's and Model A Yellow Cabs, etc.
