My best pair of jackstands were a car show door prize. Got a bag of zip ties once, otherwise it's usually wax or polish or a hat.

  3. If you ever see anything I own at a car show call 911 'cause it's been stolen.

Same thing goes if you see one of mine on a trailer. lol.

    Get over yourselves people.

I won a freshly built bellybutton SBC at a rod run in centeral Oregon a few years back. Everything was there including the engine stand. Ended up being a killer motor and needed it for a 38 Chevy sedan I had.

A month ago I won a candy apple blue mailbox with flames! It will never be put up though, because the Saturday night tough guys like to get hammered & bust up mailboxes. I take my hammer & dolly with me when I get the Sunday paper.

This year, I won a Buffalo Wing Party (100 wings) at Hooters, which was just a couple of blocks from where the car show was. Its amazing at how many guys that I didn't know instantly became my friend! Hell, everyone there was all of a sudden a friend and said that we could go over there right then!:D

By the way,bigalturk1, I pride myself in the fact that my cars are not $100,000 trailer queens either;) They have never been on a trailer, I drive them everywhere complete with bugs on the windshield!:D

2 years ago at NSRA Louisville won a set of BFG radial TA's. BFG was handing out T-shirts, I walked over to grab one, and they said here fill out this card, for a shirt. I didnt pay attention to what the card said, just wanted a free shirt. Sunday morning a lady from BFG called, and said if you are still at the show, come get your tires. Already being home, they sent me a form for the size i wanted, and about 3 days later the tires showed up at the house.

Plus for the price of lugnuts and tire mounting, the kid who mounted them bought em.

Not interested in trophies or plaques. That comes from my old drag racing days and the fact that you can't spend trophies. I go for the cars and the people. I would rather see a day full of door prize drawings and raffles if anything.

Won (?) a real nice plac at a church car show/rocket launch. Borrowed the 57 Chevy from the widow, ( she doesn't go to this church) the Chevy got choice. She was so happy, put the plac in her garage. I won twice, had a good time at the little show and gave her the award.

I've never gone for the trophies either, tommyd, but I don't give em back when I get one. I go cause of the brotherhood and because people smile when they see that old iron that we all drive. When I walk down the street people don't tend to smile or wave or give me a thumbs up, but when you drive the old iron, everyone seems to be smiling:) Thats really cool in this seemingly broken ass world we are livng in:cool: Awards and prizes are bi- products. Its like the icing on the cake!;)

  14. I won one of the give away's at the Nat's South about 5 years ago.

A Walker Radiator of my choice,,it's in the '54 Ranch Wagon.:) HRP

  15. Many years ago I won a creeper in a spark plug changing competition. I plastered it with decals and it became wall art.

one of the cool'st things I've ever seen.... standing next to a guy I know at a car show as his name is called as he won best of show with his 31 Ford.. he really didn't want to go and receive the award but did...as he left the stage he saw a young boy maybe 8 ish clapping his hands and cheer'n as I guess the lad thought it was a good choice.
As he walked by the boy he leaned over and gave him the award! I asked the guy if he knew the boy...The guy just looked at me and said 'no' and he walked away.

Can't believe my 1968 GT500 Fastback tribute car was awarded best paint. Gave the award to the guy I sold the car to, that year.

At the NSRA Nats North last year, I won a TANKS gas tank of my choice and a set of polished stainless nerf bars from McMillan Rod and Custom. Ordered a tank that would fit in my sons (FlatHeadJake) Model T Coupe. Still have the Nerf Bars on the shelf. Pretty good score.

I don't go to car shows or cruise in's to win stuff but I've won a few trophy's, 50/50's and other stuff through the years.

  22. A car show in Franksville, Wi. A girlfriend and I, we killed, from crankshaft throwing to creeper racing and everything in between; took home all the prizes. It was funny, because we were accused of cheating. We won fair and square. We got camping gear, folding chairs, grilling set, car polish, and other things that I can't remember.

  24. A couple years back when I was stationed in Great Falls, MT in entered the base car show out of pity. I drove by and there were only a few cars there. So I pulled in, parked my Sedan, paid the $5 entry fee and called my wife to come pick me up. Went back later to pick up my car there were alot more cars now and the awards had started. I ended up winning, now get this, "best street rod" and "best custom". Got a trophy for on and $100 cash for the other. Wow I'm a streetrod and a custom! HA! HA!

I won 33 ford fiberglass grill surround with a billet grill insert at Springfield Mo, Street Rod Nats from Kenny's , I didn't really want to build a glass 33 so I sold it on line, sent Kenny a thank you letter and then received a $20.00 gift card from them turned around and sent them $250.00 of the money I made for a set of gauges, would do business with them for sure good people.

My Wife seems to have the luck. At 1 show years ago she won $1200 on a 50/50 drawing. Also won an Edelbrock carb on the Power Tour @ Springfield, Mo, Vic gave her the certificate & an autographed Edelbrock catalog.

  28. About 5 or 6 yrs ago I won a GM crate 350, a built TH-350, t converter and a gas BBQ at the same show. Went to get the 350 at the dealership and they started putting boxes on the counter. A coated Edel manifold, street demon, tall bowtie valvecovers, air cleaner, breathers and a HEI. The next week, I won $600 certificate for Les Schwab products and a couple of weeks later $600 cert for BFGs at GG in Puyallup. I could do no wrong that yr. Nothing since.

During the years I was teaching auto shop and running the 48 or the 51 Merc I used to have in primer I seemed to get drawn for a can of wax or Armorall at every show I went to. My students loved it as one of them always ended up with it.

We did win the trip to Reno at the Run to Roslyn one year.

Don't give up on your Coupe. Make it as kool as possible. Just go to the right shows where they have "Pick" awards. Just won this at the Nor Cal Knockout. I don't have a fortune in my roadster almost every other "T bucket" has more chrome and bigger, taller engine. I've also won two Goodguys Terrific T awards in the past.
