I've been checking back on this thread since Rocky posted it and while i too am not a fan of the direction the old timer took with HIS car, i just can't find it in me to say anything negative about it.
I've seen many fella's who are not even close to his age who can't build a lego car let alone a hot rod of any kind...
And yeah i know, we are all entitled to our opinions and freedom of speech etc etc, but just forget the LS motor and other things that dont fit into "our" style and just be happy for the guy for cripes sake. :)
Besides Rocky just wanted us to see where his frame came from anyway.

No disrespect meant to those that spoke their minds, as im just speaking mine.

Some of my '32 frames came from most peculiar places.
My first roadster's frame was bought from an older guy (Joe was 20!) when I was 14. $5.00, the front crossmember was cut off. Frame was nice, painted with black lacquer, Joe wanted to help a young rodder. Later I found out that the frame was out of a sedan that had been hit from the drivers side front, and they cut the remainder off.
I straightened a long slight bend with my '36 Coupe and a floor jack! Should have seen that one!

    There were more...

  5. Both my 32 frames came from Henry

All I can say is that if the gent hadn't liked the "condition" of the stock frame Rocky wouldn't have that frame under his car. The frame got a new lease on life rather than being cut up and hauled for scrap like too many "obsolete" frames have in the past.
The coupe may not be our cup of tea now but the body isn't hacked up and I'd bet even money that it would scare the crap out of a lot of the dissers if they were riding shotgun through the quarter in it.

Dumb. Not your car, he didn't ask for anyone's advice. No use disrespecting a man because he's building HIS car the way He wants to.

Who would be pissed that you took his nice cars and made hot rods out of them. They're not even black. :)

  9. Ha! Funny you should mention that. The ol' guy's 33 was originally a factory black car and by the photo he showed me it was a very nice car! His photo was taken in '72 and the only non-33 part in the photo was a set of gennie 56 Olds holiday flipper hubcaps..the factory original black paint was very shiny!

Wouldn't you know it, not a single Mustang II or modern fuel injected engine in the bunch.

Sorry, I fail to see what's dumb about my previous statement. I really couldn't care less whether he asked for my advice or not, a picture of the car was posted here and I gave my opinion of it, that's what message boards are for. I'm not sure what's disrespectful about my previous post either, sure he's entitled to build his car the way he wants, that doesn't change the fact that it looks like hell, isn't traditional and doesn't belong on the HAMB.

Back to the original question..... My '32 chassis came out of a rubbish dump in the late '60s, and was absolutely mint.....the 4 door sedan was left in the dump, minus it's two front doors, which are still in my attic.

  14. I know exactly where my chassis came from. it was originally my great grandfather's, once it was retired from road use it was used as a farm hack then dumped in a wind row of trees and I picked it up from the bloke who now owns the farm.

OK!! The thread started about a frame that came from this car you gave your opinion on, (not Traditional)I'll give you that. You show us pictures of Hot Rods that fit your opinion(excellent cars). I don,t know you and you could be a Premier builder, with that if you talk the talk then walk the walk!! Show us your cars that are 100% Traditional and when your 82 years old post what your building and some wise ass calls it a TURD. Pete

Everyone has an opinion but one way to look at this is that the 33 coupe is finished in a way that it holds its value and won't be bought by scrappers and crushed at an auction. It's not a traditional build like we like but whose to say that it won't be bought in the future and be built as a traditional car. Most of the things that we don't like are bolt on things anyways. The most important thing for now is that it will survive and will be one more out there that's not fiberglass when someone looks for a car to buy in the future. Plus the owner loves it and keeps it inside and it makes him happy, if it didn't he would have sold it long ago.

I Guess I Am A Little Offended Because My Car Is Similar To His.

Me, a "premier builder" or an "expert"? Hardly. I'm not a chef either but I know if my steak tastes like shoe leather. Since you asked here's a shot of my car:

I couldn't care less weather anyone likes it or not, but I can tell you when certain people don't I know I'm doing something correctly.

  25. Well @Rocky high zoot or not the old guys coupe is a work of art. Not traditional but very well built, nice to see a well built car even if it isn't built to my own tastes. Thanks for the sneak peak.

Curious what you guys consider 100 % traditional? It seems that everyone is all about the importance of the labels or the classifications, rather than building shit, destroying things and going fast..

"Traditional" in the sense of the word, is the new black primer..

Just build things and push the limits.
