Every once in a while u see something original

the hobbies been around so long and some of the cars have been done so much.... seems there is nothing left to do that hasnt been done before... and, maybe this has, but its new and neat to me. does it detract from the "smoothness"? maybe, but still cool and unique. (talking bout the 57 chev hood bulletes btw). oh ya, the roof line flows about perfect too... the rest? well... its not my car.

The Hood Bullets and the Basic look of the car are the only things about it i like.

 

So he has the hood sanded down, but he's got bullet hole stickers 'cause he's concerned about paint chips showing? The guy spends all this time and/or money and then puts Coop STICKERS on the dash? Sometimes you just haveta wonder about people. Nice lookin ride over-all...I hope it gets into the "right" hands.

 

He has the bullet hole stickers that are made to look like broken GLASS on the body too..

 

What the hell were they thinking? Looks like a real bad photoshop job or something....

and this car goes to show that sometimes being original is not enough . It is stuck it two different worlds , custom street machine , and old style good looking custom . the " high dollar " steering wheel kills the interior , and you would think that instead of bolting that ugly pig to his column , he would get some interior door handles . . . ?

regardless , it could be a super badass ride with a little sprucing up here & there . un-tint the back 1/4 windows , fix a few little boners here & there . I'm still out on the 57 hood bullet idea , it is kindda cool , but it is hard to tell how it would look with the hood in one color . Maybe he did the hood like that to give it " patina " . . .

HAHA, I was thinking the same thing Neal. To me, it doesn't seem like the bullets fit right, but that is just my opinion. Next thing you know, somebody will top it by putting '59 Cad taillights as turn signals...

 

Dude pete, this sucks. As God is my witness I was thinking about the sheer badassness of '57 Chevy bullets on my '54 Chevy last year. The wife nixed the idea as 'stupid.'

'57 Chevy bullets have to be the most irresponsible ornementation on any vehicle ever made.

Yeah I saw this car last night on ebay. Naturally the hood stands out because of the silver and oxide (?) mess in the middle of it. It wasn't until I focused in on the hood paint that I noticed the 57 bullets, I don't like them, they don't fit the lines of the hood at all. Everything on this style Merc that makes it look so damn cool has to do with the long flowing lines and smooth rounded edges. 57 hood bullets are made for finned cars with sharp edges, not 49-51 Mercs...IMHO. After looking at all the photos of this car I had to go back and see where this seller lived, "Hollyweird", that explained it all...

if you look close in the picture on the other post, there is no hood on the car.

The dash is definitely a 49 but the door latches, the trunk handle, and the rear window are all 50. Too much has changed on this car to tell much more than that...

 

All it needs are some 22" wheels........Yetch!!!!

I looked at that site, the photos of that Merc looked good (also was missing the hood), I don't know who mucked with it after Lordz got done but they should have left it alone...

ya, he did the bullets in the hood, and the guy wanted that funky paint shit.. "whatever the customer wants!".

 

wazzap guys, the merc is a 1950 with a 49 dash, it belongs to a kustomer from hollywood, the bullets were added by his father,and the stickers and spray can paint on the hood by the owner, i have offerd to fix the hood and re shoot it for FREE, so it dont give us a bad name, i dont like it but its not mine so what can i do

 

Man, what a shame. So close to being a really nice custom... but as far as bullets go, the owner ought to put one in his brain stem for doing that to the hood (THE PAINT)
The steering wheel is wrong for sure, and the boom box has gotta go.... but other than that it is a neat car.
Makes me wonder what happens inside a guys mind, to come so close and then put a big dog stool on the hood. Maybe the new owner can repaint it.

 

For 50 grand it would seem the seller could throw in some window cranks.?!

 

That WAS an awesome car. I did see a guy once that was doped up on something take spray cans to a new Corvette.

well, yah... maybe they dont flow with the lines, i said i wasnt sure if they detract from the smoothness but i still like em and think they are original b/c i've never seen a pair on anything but a 57 chev. as for them belonging on a finned car only? i dont think so. i think they would look good/match a car better that had caddy bullet bumpers and/or bullet hubcaps, maybe cad taillights... sort of go with a bullet theme... i dont know... could be gay. i like to fantasyse but pretty much always go with the "less is more" idea, just paint it black and leave it alone. its like i dream about painting my bike palm olive green w/ heavy flake, but will i ever be brave nuff to do it and be able to live w/ myself after? no.

L.O.K. I get what your saying . I do tattoos and have to deal with people all day long wanting to get things that I might not personally think are a good idea . the customer is however , most of the time , right . when you are in the business of doing things for other people , sometimes you have to do things that you might not think are very cool . it sucks but we gotta pay those bills man .
