Today at Goodguys an older guy asked if my Buick was for sale, So i chuckled and said "everything is for sale". So he hit me up for a price, I told him a number and said nothing less. An hour and a half later, he is still asking details. Takes my number and says he might call me, he is here from Ohio. Tonight he calls, he wants to come out Sunday and talk some more. In six months I might go from 4 cars to 1. Anyway, I cant sleep there are 8 fire trucks in front of my house cleaning up the house two doors down that did its own Towering inferno impression.
Y'know if the price is right, you could take advantage of a good sitch- what are the other 3 vehicles?
I sold my 27 back in June when someone asked if it was for sale and I threw out a number, the car was not for sale. a 55 that went away under the same terms, just a passing conversation. if the buick goes....which who knows if anything will come about, that will make three... leaving me with my 4th vehicle and daily driver 68 chevy pickup.
[ QUOTE ] your prices must be too low [/ QUOTE ] no doubt! yer BUICK FREAKIN ROCKS!!! and i love your "daily" too. i think i remember your T also and now that i think about it i'm not so sure one deserves so many kickass cars at once ...so what are ya gonna build next???
Yep, sure is... well almost eveything. Like my good buddy Roadstar always says...."If the money is right.... I can always build another". I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that the sales goes thru cuz I'm sure the money was very right or you wouldn't be even considering it. How about an update on how the show was, and some photos too if you took them.
I dunno Glen..that is such a kick-ass sedanette. Might take forever to find and build another car with such a presence. It just oozes class, sitting in the sun. This, coming from the guy that sells EVERYTHING! Would you build another fat-car? Put the $$$ in the 68 chevy pickup? Do an "Easy Rider" and "invest" the money, ending up at Mardi Gras?
I have the 50 Buick sedanette lurking in the background begging for attention..... Denise: Im guilty of taking two nice cameras to the show and not taking 1 pic. The show turnout was the best ever, the show continues to grow every year, I think this is the 5th year.
TWO cameras and not ONE photo! You should be ashamed of yourself.... 30 lashes with a wet noodle for you. Maybe someone else will post photos and have my undying admiration.
'50 Sedanette is one of my favorite body styles. If you do it anywhere near as nice as the '48, you'll have a winner in my book. Unless it is a passed on family treasure, it's all for sale. Just have to hit the right $$$. It looks like you build some nice stuff, so I can see why people don't balk at the price. Quality costs. Just make sure you are getting enough to make it worth it. Sounds like you got it figured out just fine. Got any pics of the '50, as it sits?
my mercs for sale if anyone is interested $175,000. thats firm. all it lacks is finishing up. if anyone is interested i'll meet you in juno alaska. corner of 2nd and main, on the 35th of april 2007. if i'm late just wait.
A person never knows what may happen. 2 years ago I put a "for sale' sign on my 71 chevy truck while I was selling " highly collectible parts" at the AAHC glendale swap meet. I was sure there would be many tire kickers at the posted : " $5k ... no offers" price. As you know Glen, the truck sold in less than 45 minutes for cash. The GG show was larger, they may run out of room in a couple of years.. Many great cars. We had 2 cameras and only took mayb 9 photos. Oddly this year I had many questions on the Dodge. In the past people just walked past the ol POS. Must be the new Torq II polished wheels..
Glen, I love that buick. It's perfect in my book. Color, caps, stance, all of it. Always been a fan of sedanettes. There's a pontiac of the same year near me that is probably free, but it's got the front end smashed. It's still tempting.
I will loosely tell this similar story. Some HAMBers know this guy. If I got the details wrong, correct me. He had a 33 for sale, millionare from Florida flew in to buy it. Guy decides to pick the Millionaire and his wife up at th airport in a woody he owned. The wife said millionaire could not buy the other car unless SHE COULD TAKE THE "not for sale woody" home. Guys shoots a 150K price and they take it!!!!!!
Everything at my house is for sale... except my wife and kids. I think that is the case for most everyone... it's just that some things may have an exuberant price tag... like 50mercfan's Mercury... what if someone researched it and found that it belonged to some famous dude and now the thing was worth $100,000... you're telling me that you wouldn't sell it for that??... with that money, you could buy the most pristine stock Merc on earth... buy all the tools and machines you ever wanted and then build your dream Merc... Money doesn't buy happiness... but it sure helps. Sam.
A guy came to my Fire Station last year trying to sell us a new fire truck. He saw my 68 SWB Chevy in the parking lot and just had to have it. I really didn't want to sell it, so I told him a price several, several thousand over what it was worth. He wrote me a check right there. I told him I wanted a cashier's check (it was a lot of money). He said no way, just take the check to the bank and after it's cleared to call him and he'd arrange delivery. I took it to Well's Fargo and cashed it out in cash. After I called him, he flew one of his personal drivers in to DFW airport on American Airlines and paid him to take a taxi over to my place. The driver drove the truck back home all the way to Minnesota on the clock. I'm sure it was a big change after driving new firetrucks all over the country. Come to find out, the guy owns a huge fire truck manufacturer. What he was doing making a sales call in Tx I don't know. He told me he had just sold his Hemi Cuda and wanted another vehicle. I thought I was big stuff getting all that money, but it was probably less then 20% of what he got from the Cuda. You can't ever tell who might have a pocket full of money. I though he was just some yokel salesman.
First of all I wanna say thanks for the compliments. Good news, the Buick is back at home in the garage where it belongs. Shiva those lights are off of a 48 Buick sedanette Foiled thats not the peak, that was out by Saguaro lake. SHORTBUS? Any time frame on those pics?

[/ QUOTE ]i understand what your saying sam and it makes perfect since. but i'm already building the car of my dreams without all those tools. i've wanted a chopped merc my whole life and i've finnaly got it. i honestly don't know what it would take to get it, but i do know no one would pay it. and besides i would just have to start all over. i've never been concidered the sharpest knife in the drawer, but i'd rather have the car than the money.
