Dude! I was just thinking about this car today and wondering why I hadn't seen anything in a while! I hoped it was because you were too busy driving the piss out of it!
Love the project, can you tell me what radiator you are using? And, by chance, have any pics of the radiator/shell mounting? Thanks.
Cactus1 ... Yes I've been having some fun driving it... : ) It still needs allot of work... more progress to come
The radiator is out of a late 60's early 70's Toyota land cruiser and no I don't have any pic's of how I mounted the shell..
Oooooh la la, where did you pick those up? You goin to be at Sonic with it tomorrow? I dug the way it sounded with the Porters.
When William Crapo Durant who had started GM and created Chevrolet got kick out of GM he started a car company that bore his name Durant it didn't make it through the depression. I believe he also made a car called Star and Rugby trucks.
Yes Dru I like the way the porters sound too but they were just too quiet for the hot rod and now these lake headers are too loud ... The cool thing is it only takes 15minutes to swap out exaust in this car ..
I heard rumor that in the dark, under WOT there was some serious flamage goin on the other night. I gotta see that.
Your Durant has alot of similarities like my Whippet but yours at least had alot more metal to start with. My doors inside had nothing but wood. Glad you got it on the road. I am still a ways to get mine done but its getting there!! That must have been a cool feeling on your first drive. I'm still thinking about that moment for mine to be driven!!
I have owned Durants, and if I remember correctly, he was the one, while on a business trip, stayed in a hotel. The wallpaper in his room had a neat pattern he liked. That pattern was the "bowtie" emblem that he brought to chevrolet that we see everywhere today. Previously mentioned was the Star cars. I think they died in 27, and 28 was the Durant. If you bought a 28 Durant, the motor plate still had Star printed tag on it. Mine did. Billly Durant started off building buggies, then progressed into automobiles. I love the front axle you used and would like to know more about it if you have time. Awesome build you did there. Congrads on a nice build...
thats a sweet lookin rod you got there, refreshing to see a change from all the ford rods out there. the only thing i would change if it were mine would be to raise the rear end just slightly (maybe an inch or so). to my eye it looks like its draggin its ass just a little. but that certainly does'nt take away from the fact that its a wicked car. JMO
Toqwik... The front end setup is a 1933 Desoto Front axle honed out to exept chevy king pins with 1953 Chevy truck Spindle, hubs and Brakes, suspended by Posies quarter elliptic adjustable springs, Home made adjustable radius rods ...
Any pictures of that roof insert? Its been awhile since you updated us Levi. I feel so all alone.......
