Hello HAMBERS - I have finally decided to come out of the closet after lurking for the last three years. I am an 53 year old addict of old Fords and I have loved anything with a motor in it as long as I can remember. First car (victim) was a '51 Ford that I put a Fenton two deuce manifold and dual exhaust on until I cracked the block, then a '57 Chevy that I learned how to build my first motor in (but it took a few tries to get it right), then a '51 Chevy with a straight axle (the gasser look was cool in the seventies). And so on until the chopper bug bit after seeing Easyrider, which morphed into a '51 Panhead with 20" over springer (how did I survive that one?) until Uncle Sam invited me to his party for a few years. After that I landed in a bike shop with some dirt track racers who infected me with that habit. I had several Bultaco Astros that I raced on short tracks and half miles until I got the motocross bug and eventually ended up being a Maico dealer until they went tits up. My finest moment was when I grafted a Maico 490 motor into one of my Bultaco short track bikes and didn't kill myself racing it. After a few more years of racing ATV's I decided that falling off bikes wan't all that much fun anymore and went back to my hot rod habit. Old V-8 Fords, especially the Deuce nailed me and I am consumed by them. I used to have some other stuff I liked to do like watersking, windsurfing, bike riding but now it's Old Fords all the time, everytime and I can't seem to get enough of it. Just driving my roadster across the west to the LA Roadster Show or Bonneville is the best especially on a deserted two lane with the sun setting at a good clip (about 80 is just right) with the exhaust and wind in my ears. My Deuce roadster is the first car that I built 5 years ago now has 38K on it and I am working on a more traditional Brookville to replace it with. I am also building a '32 pickup for a daily driver and puller for a small Burro travel trailer that I refurbished this summer. Hope to finish it by next spring. Also have a Deuce 5W project that needs paint and reassembly after the other two projects. And then there is more ideas and dreams after that. I just can't seem to satisfy the urge to have more, build more, drive more and dream more. Do the rest of you have it this bad? I didn't have any luck getting a picture to upload, it stalled about half way through. Flame me if you want, but I still am happy to be the caretaker of the following old Fords (and one Chebby) until I can't afford or am able to work on them any more: Blue '32 Roadster (old Gibbon body) hiboy driver with a fun 38K by me Black '32 Roadster (Brookville) hiboy project car Dark Grey Fendered '32 Pickup project Black Primered Fendered '32 5W Project Restored '32 Model B Roadster (my wife of 32 years' pride and joy) Gennie '32 5W Coupe built in St. Paul, MN with 53,000 miles Restorod '32 3W Coupe on the road since '76 Black Kryloned Flathead Powered '32 Tub Hiboy Grey Primered '32 5W Hiboy Roller (will be a Flathead with a S-10 5 speed) '32 Fordor body with a 2" chop '32 Tudor body with a 4" chop (needs a lot of work) '32 Cabriolet just found in Colorado and undergoing extensive metalwork (it had a tree about 3' in diameter growing in the center of it-see picture) Gennie '34 3W Coupe with an amateur restoration (around town driver) '40 Ford Tudor (I am the thrird owner) '57 Chevy Nomad (rescued from Sudbury, Canada ten years ago)
Welcome to da HAMB from the land of the missing rocker panel. you asked if everyone has it that bad, and for me the answer is yea, just not enough room, time, or those pesky little green things with pictures of dead US historical figures on them looks like a SWEET stable of cars. usualy i get a bit pissy seeing someone holding on to a load of cars like that, but i am in HAMB "car collection envy" treatment and my progress is good please post more photo's of your 32's if you have em, and if you have trouble posting them, feel free to email em to me and i'll get them up for you PS... Hey Bb... i am getting better bud
