I know there are cut outs with a bolt on plate, electic motors(too expensive) and ones from Mr gasket that are only 2 inches in diameter. I want to try and make some like the mr gasket type that have a cable that leads up into the cab so i can manually open and close them inside the truck, but not made of cast iron and only 2 inches in diameter. Has anyone seen or made a set of them?

I guess you're looking for something bigger?
There may be some "offroad only usage" part like that available from diesel or truck outfits, what do you think?

Although those say 2", they can easily be used on a bigger pipe. Here is a pic of a set used on a set of 2 1/2" exhaust pipes.

There was a guy here in MI that was making them for muscle cars in 3" and I think 4" but they were lever operated from under the driver seat. The company was called motofab I think, I will see if I can find out more tomarrow.

I saw some somewhere that were 4 individual cutouts in a row that mounted into the primary tubes - would love to find a set of them...

cable style can still leak giving odd exhaust sound. MR Gasket offers a cable style.

if you do not have thumper engine with some compression, it will sound like a stock 64 chevy 283. More like a bubble sound.

I have a set of Stainless Steel, 3" electric "Dougs" cutouts and Y pipes that I removed from my Olds. They are the round sliding gate not flapper design. I don't have the wiring any longer though.

Way back in the 60's I had a set of the JC Whitney cable operated cutouts on my '57 Chevy, and it took maybe a week for them to freeze up, and not open or close. They would stick on the butterflies, or the cable inside the housing. Take them apart and free them up and a week later they froze up again. I finally gave up, and took them off.
I have electrics on both of my gassers for a long time, and they always work.

  11. Exhaust cutouts ehh? I hear they’re a gas. He he.

  12. I have electric ones on my Blown Nova Gasser, they always work, but they’re kinda like a Thumper Cam, pretend bad ass, driving around with open exhaust… I do like that with them open the exhaust doesn’t kick all the dust and dirt up in my driveway. There is that! I wonder if there is an actual performance gain with these cut outs over actual open exhaust straight out the collectors?
