Have always been a fan of the 1960 Mercury Cruiser's but you just dont see them any more. So when I found this one with the big 430 motor I just had to have it. It now has air ride suspension and I replaced the 14" wheels with 15" wheels and a set of vogue gold stripes white walls. Not sure of what hub cap I will run yet but am leaning towards a 57 buick cap with a spider center and the mercury head in the center of the spider. Have all the body work done and ready for the wild custom paint work. Yes it will be a wild one as this is one of my personall rides so it will be done Watson style with scallops and panels with candy fade aways and lace over lays. I plan to do the base color in a large white metal flake with a hint of fine tangerine orange flake lightly peppered in. The panels and fade aways will be done in shades of tangerine orange candy's. I have been trying to come up with a cool name for this one as all my cars, so far ( Sunset Cruiser ) is the one.

I really like your car, '60 Mercs and Fords are very cool.
Answer me a question... why did you take the 14" wheels off and replace them with 15"? Back in the day we would pull off the 15"s and put on 14"s that got us an inch or so closer to the ground.... Thanks.

With the air ride suspension I can easily lay the frame on the ground so there was no need for the smaller 14" wheels. Also I wanted to up the finall drive on this big gas guzzeling tork monster so I put 235/70's on a 7" wide wheel in the rear and 225/60's in the front on a 6" wide wheel. I also have alot of 15" hub caps to play with and just happened to have 4 235/70/15 vogues. Have the other 2 235/70/15 vogues for sale in my gaybay store.

    hey Rick, great looking car.

Is your heart set on caps? I think chrome reverse, Astro's or even flaked steelies with spider caps and a trim ring would fit the bill...

    Thank's nowaxn5

Chrome reverses or spiders with trim rings just aint doing it for me on this merc. Did seriouly put some thought in running astro's but we had them on our old pearl red flamed 62 galaxie convert and want to do this one differet. Even considering a set of Raiders with very wide whites :eek:

  18. I can't wait to see this one.....The '60 Mercs are cars that were always overlooked, and I never understood it. As cool as '60 Starliners and Buicks are, the '60 Mercury trumps them. From Parklanes to Montereys, the styling is awesome.....Nice choice Rick.......Centurion9

For thoes how have not seen my post of me wanting to adapted and Fe dual quad intake to the Mel engine. Well today I finally got a chance to play around with this Fe dual quad intake:). After doing alot of measuring on the Fe intake I ordered a set of Mel intake gaskets and overlayed them onto the Fe intake and to my surprise the ports aline fairly close but the Mels are much taller (See the black dye sprayed onto the intake) The center 2 ports alined very well and will require a little grinding to make an very nice port match. The end ports are off but I can easily weld the inside edge of the ports and grind the outside of the port to make a nicer match. Even the front water cross over post looks like it will work with a little welding. I will have to make a devorice rear water cross over. So I ruff plamsa cut the valley pan area away from the Fe intake :eek::eek:. The Fe intake is wider than the Mel so I plan to machine the intake slightly wider than the stock Mel intake and check it again for fit & port alinment. If this does good I will start welding.

Mine's an Ablewagon Coroner's car. It's been close to getting on the road for a few years now.
