I am starting a new project and the motor I am using the oil pressure regulator is part of the oil filter. It is a big bullbuss thing and I will not have room in a lakes type T. Is there a regulator available that can be external to the motor.
The motor is a V12 BMW. It's all aluminum about 1" shorter than a big block Chev with a short pump.. It also weighs less than a small block chev.
    Thanks for your time.

Oil pressure regulators on most engines are simply check valves that T into main line pressure and open at what ever their spring rate determins and dump excess oil back to the reservoir.
Check valves either inline or cartidge type are available through hydraulic parts supply companies.
I know this is vague but I am not familiar with your engine.
