EZ Wiring Harness

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Jim Sideways, Oct 11, 2009.

  1. Ive gt a question... I was dead set on using a ron francis bare bonz kit for my dodge but I cant justify the price tag anymore. Im torn between ez and rebel wire. My question is, do the rebel wire kits come with everything to rewire an entire car???? I noticed that they dont picture the headlight "pigtails" etc and ez wire does....

Depends on what you consider complete. Our kits have all of the circuits needed to rewire a complete car. There will be some connectors and terminals needed, but that's the same with just about all harnesses. What we do offer is high quality flame proof SXL wire and American made components. All of our harnesses are ***embled by hand in our shop in Tennessee. Quality and value are our selling points.

I used a 12 circuit kit in my last 57, awesome wiring kit. I have the 21 circuit kit for my current 57. These are easy to install. Like was mentioned earlier, lots of heavy grounding is essential for any wiring job to be successful.

    ----------------------------------------------------------

I have a few questions as a total novice for wiring. I have mopare muscle cars and have used stock replacement harnesses. However I am currently doing a 67/ 63 Dodge power wagon with its stock 318 and will soon be doing my 38 Plymouth business coupe with a 5.7 HEMI late mod engine. So that said, two total different applications and I need osme knowledge.

On the truck, I will be running all the stock componants, like front and rear tail lights, heater, ect. But it will have after market gauges. electronic ignition, some extra driving lights for the front of the 4x4 and stereo, winch, ect. How do I tell how many circuts I will need?

In reading the post that I quotes, I read

Radio, Wipers, Turn Signals, Gauges, Brake Lights, Horn, Tail Light, Park Lights, Dash Lights, Ignition, Heat & A/C, Radio Memory, Dome Light, Hazard Flash and 2 Cigarette Lighter (Lighter & Hidden 12 Volt Outlet)

Now I have a question? Are the guages considered one leads o all the gauges, or in the case of 5-6 gauges, is that 5 to 6 seperate circuts needed out of the harness???? I would like two extras for what ever or in case It grows in needs, but this truck is going to be a toy and not driven all that much. Also, what tools should one buy, (Quality tools) to learn wiring??? I want to be able to do, so besides my old man reading gl***es, what else is helpful. I am lucky that I have a huge shop and work in doors, but I am a novice mechanic as best. I like doing the body and paint, not the mechanical. However I need to learn as I have 7-8 projects lined up and I am heading away from the muscle cars and their high dollar prts and towards thes etrucks and rods and ratrods.

    any advise is appreciated

Here are a couple of pics of the projects I currently need wiring for. I also am going to use after market wiring for a 340 Dart, the gauges in my 70 440-6 cuda vert and a few others.

Glenn33, I will be wiring my '59 F100 this winter and I think I will be needing a 14 circuit setup, it looks like all wiring is good to lights but since I have a different steering column and turnsignal switch nothing is hooked up under the dash. I am only running a triple guage set up at this point.

I am fairly new at the wiring thing too tho I have done quite a few custom radio installs.
And from the reviews on here and the fact it is american made I will be ordering a harness from you guys.

    Mattybear...
Unless you are putting electric windows in your truck, think about our 9+3 harness. I think you'll be happier and it's a little less money. Let me know if you have any questions.

I'm going to go with the Rebel in my Plymouth when I get ready to wire it up. I like the fact that it's built here in the U.S.A..

Well I just wanted to be sure I could still have all turn signals and I already thought the 9+3 would maybe be enough but wasnt sure. As it sits right now i have a rocker switch going thru a flasher going to my left turn signal(its the most important one). This is how I bought the truck along with other numerous other creative uses of the original wiring.

I've used a couple of the ez wire 13 circuit harnesses and they worked out great.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I have a question regarding the EZ harness. For those of you who have used the 21 circuit harness from EZ, did you use the mini fuse panel type, or the standard? And is the only difference between the two the size of the fuses? Looks like they both come with GM column connectors and 2 flashers, but does the mini also come with a horn and fan relay?

I emailed them, but I figured I'd ask here while I'm waiting for a response. Thanks!
