hello, i just picked up a set of front f1 brakes. But the question i have is, the hub and drum are 2 pieces should they be hooked to gether like 40 ford please let me know. thanks
use the 40 spindle, f1 hub, backing plate and drum, replace the inner bearing with this part # national 450461 or koyo 14116. use original outer bearing ( new of course) Nick

I don't think this guy is asking "how do I put them on my early ford spindles" - As for your question - I'm not sure if the drums and hubs are swaged together like the early ford drums or not - them may be budd-type drums, and just slip over the hubs. Maybe getting this back to the top will get you your answer? Good luck.
I think those are slip-on type drums. I believe they should have a close register at the middle hole to center them, but nothing except the wheel to hold them on. Originally there would likely have been a little tin clip pushed over one stud to keep the drum from falling off on the assembly line, which would have been left on the floor after the first brake service...
On my F-1 the front hubs are pressed onto the brake drums because I remember having to remove the spindle nuts to remove the drums!
I had a vibration at 55 MPH with my F-100's. Check the race radius on the inside bearing and make sure it fits all the way up to spindle. Check it with a feeler gage and if it will go in with any size gage you need to fix it. I ground the inner radius if the bearing till it cleared the radius on the spindle. This stoped the vibration, I saw a letter in Street Rodder about this and it worked for me. dwrfab Don Ross
Bruce lancaster is correct. Often you will think they are part of the hub due to being seized up from years of rust.. but they are separate. Brian
