F-1 front brake swap

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by sidevalve8ba, Sep 15, 2013.

  1. Okay, I have installed F-100 front brakes on '37-'41 spindles and know the routine. Modify the inner bearing race to fit the spindle, etc.

I ran across a set of F-1 front brakes the other day and I have a pair of '41-'48 spindles. I ran some searches and came up with no information.

My question is this; is the swap the same as the F-100 swap?

  2. yes it is the same , except with the square spindles no grinding is required

  3. Thanks. I thought so but just wanted to make sure. :D

48 to 56 backing plates are the same but the hub and brake drum are different on 48 to 52. Easy way to tell is the 48 to 52 has a lot more offset front the hub face to the brake shoe surface. 53 to 56 is flat. You can also use the hub and drum off a 57 to 64 with different bearings.
