f 100 models for 1963, surplus beds

F 100 guys any info or history on the surplus box option. or maybe point Me to a place to look. thanks

 

are you refering to how some of the trucks came with the earlier style 57-60 style beds ?

Yes , you could get the 57-60 style for $100 of sticker price. Also is it a rare option.

 

its a standard longbed for the earlier years if im thinking right. my 63 had one on it.

 

I thought they stop production on the unibody and if you wanted a fleetside. that was the only option other than a step side.

 

i don't know the history on them but i was recently lookin at picking up a 63 shortbox with the earlier style box on it ! they sure look odd as the body lines don't match up ! i'm figuring ford like everything else they did had a surplus of these boxes left over from previous years and decided to use em up on the 63 which wasnt a unibody truck anymore figuring most people looking for them were interested in buying one to use as a truck and not woried about their looks looks !

 

Funny thing is around here you see more trucks like this with the early bed than the right one. I guess my town has always been full of tightwads lol...
