I have an 1954 F100 Steering column/box that is in good condition. I am considering using it on the 31 Coupe that I am building as a land speed car. Rules require that I have to demonstrate emergency egress and the fastest way to get out is with a quick release steering wheel. Is there a simple solution for this shaft/spline? The other option is cowl steering.

  2. Buy a quick release. You'll probably have to have one with a SFI rating of some sort, that should be mentioned in your rulebook. Summit Racing or comparable catalog speed should be able to hook you up no problem. You will probably have to remove the bell at the top of the column.
