Here is the Facts......I'm chalking this Youtube Video up to "Karma"

There is alot of mechanic's on here including myself and we have all taken libertys with customers cars. Maybe if it was only a 2nd gear chrip or a full blown burnout...We have all done it!....we can chalk it up to making sure we did our work right!


Here's a couple reasons its "Karma" for me.....

#1....After the Oakland Roadster Show in 1994? the Smoothster was getting picked up and being shipped to Fred Warren....Dick Brogden asked me to pull it around to the alley where the transporter was parked....Well I took that oppertunity to take it the long way around the block and drive the piss out of that thing. Huge doughnuts!....

#2.....One evening when nobody was around Me and a certain Car designer that worked at Boyds were joy-riding Gray Baskerville's beloved 32 Roadster and we clipped a wall and smashed the fender.....OOOpps!!......(primer spot is still on that car)

So basically We are all guilty of this same shit in one way or another.....I'm just thankful I didn't have my Spice Girls CD in the player.......

 

These Jesse James threads crack me up,,,,if thrown the key, it seems like most of you guys would be sniffing the vinyl on driver's seat.................

But since I SUCKumbed to the lure of the topic too....a friend of mine dropped off his chopped, grey Chevy with the valets one evening. Why did he get his keys back with a tag that said BLUE FORD??!!

working at a dealership can be fun.

i got 'valeted' too, ony mine had to go to the body shop....the guy backed along a sign while i was standing there. not as big a deal when its an import sedan and paint and body is free.

terribly inconvenient though.

I'VE GOTTA AGREE WITH MR. JAMES. MOST OF US HAVE BEEN THERE IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. I USED TO REPO CARS.. THE SHIT I USED TO DO TO THOSE CARS.. IF KARMA STRIKES.. I'M SCREWED. I HAVE TO SAY.. YA GOT A GREAT ATTITUDE ABOUT IT THOUGH.

that shit killed me. ive done some burnouts in some cars when i worked in the body shop its not the same but hay you did give them the keys

As has been stated what gearhead/mechanic hasnt opened up or spun the tires on a customers car?? I got to drive a Mercedes AMG V-12 S55 and there was no way I wasnt going to Not open that bad boy up. Finding the video would upset me at first but I guess they didnt f#@k anything up or matters would have been worse.

Wasnt there a valet video of a couple valets revving the crap out of a Mclaren posted a while back??

FWIW, I hear ya on the mechanics "test drive"... I worked at Sears Auto Center in Modesto as a pompas ass kid with a hot car... thought I died and went to heaven when a customer told me "Go ahead, take it for a spin!"... the car? A 1989 Mustang coupe 5.0 5 speed... hahahahaha!!

The guy was a 30-something dude with a hot new car... he could tell I was a gear head, and knew that letting me take that thing for a spin would leave me jaw-dropped.

I said "You're shittin' me."

OH KARMA! Having worked for a race team with factory sponsorship,i sure know what you mean,if some of those loaner cars,or race weekend rentals could tell stories!!! Ever experienced trying to run a Lincoln Towncar on 90% nitro,while driving through a pile of garbage at Firebird,and run over a 20lb propane bottle! Great attitude,we've all been there!

Well, nice to see it's in "perspective" for ya. I get to drive everything that comes in our shop. I may respect it exponentially more but that's cuz I was raised that way...and some of em are worth a dozen of your chevs as well! You're right, they didn't hurt anything so WTF.
