Projects F.E.D. Build, Y not a Y-Block

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by mctim64, Apr 11, 2010.

  1. Almost too cool!!!!!

  2. Neat, I for one have never heard a Y block sound that strong! Obviously you have your ducks all in a row. Announcer said short wheelbase???? I thought instantly "I dont think I could see the front wheels from the drivers seat. Short? I show him short!" I held my breath till the thought p***ed.
Anyway the motor has that sound. The sound you work for, when you know it is happy and all its parts are singin the same tune. Nice work.
I find it very peaceful running a rail. Maybe it is the open body, the breeze or the solitude but it is very the****udic. You are making some big power there. I agree with your ***essment of probable ET. Wish I had been there. Don

  4. Well Don, it ain't 220. lol

    "Almost" huh. :D;)

  5. Thanks for that Don. :)

  6. Had a bit of a time at Famoso yeasterday. Had one run with a squirly launch that still ran out at 10.82 and 127 mph even after having to lift. This one though was a 18.97 @ 41 mph. Give it a listen, when I shif to second there's nothing but when I got to the end of the track it cought again. Trans low on fluid, thought I blew it.

  7. Like the launch! As you said it did weird things...........maybe punishing you for sleeping on the light?

  8. Nice launch tho.....

  9. Yeah..... that was the more embarr***ing thing.

I was looking for Joe out of the corner of my eye but he never staged because he did this on his burnout.

  10. I think I just got a nosebleed from that wheelie!
Glad it is just low fluid and nothing major. Thanks for the video
    Don
Of course I dont know what trans you have but if was a TRQFLTE too much of the oil from the trans pan went into the tailstock on the wheelie. I run a super deep trans pan with an extended pick up just in case. It takes a lot longer to drain back in then to dump out into the tailstock.

I should say "Thanks!" to Kustom Falcon for working as a middle man and taking the parts to Visalia Chrome, they do a great job but can be hard to work with. I got all this back in a timely manner. :)

  29. Took the car out to the ranch for a quick test run, after the trans faultered at Famoso I just wanted to be sure it was gonna work for me at Mooneye's next week. Seems to be working fine with a little more fluid added.

Also I did a little trick that was suggested to me, swab the inside of the newly chromed zoomies to keep the bluing to a minimum.

This is after a couple of quickie runs and engine heated up to 220* f. We'll see how they look next week after a couple of hard p***es at Irwindale. ;)
