I am using an F1 box and pitman arm. I need the tie rod end to be inboard to clear the wishbone.
How can I do this on the tapered F1 shaft?

Just don't quench it. Allow it to cool VERY slowly.

I like to toss mine in a bucket of sand, and cover them, until cool.
