just drove my 63 f100 around for the first time yesterday, but i couldnt shift to 2nd or 3rd. the shifter will move to those positions, but will not let go of the 1st/rev shaft. is there something specific i should be looking for or should i just pull my column out and try to rebuild it?
the hole where the shifter goes into the collar does seem pretty bad. oblonged and mushroomed. does carpenter have a website?
im pretty sure that tube in the column that is connected to the shifter is f*ed. the little square piece that has the hole in it that the shifter pin goes into looks like is broken off the tube. im just saying screw it and ordering a floor shifter from jegs.
Hey blue...Im on another site which is dedicated to 61-66 ford trucks and I bet if you look on there you could find one from someone rather cheap if intersted...if not yeah dennis carpenter is a good choise. On a seperate note your name "Blue Falcon" is a name people use to give others in the Army. If someone called you a Blue Falcon it meant you were a Buddy F*$^er. hahah just had to tell you that but its pretty funny. I still use that name to this day. I call my girl a Blue Falcon if she does something wrong to me. also check your kick down linkage. Had the same thing one time when I rebuilt my carb and relaized I screwed that part up when ***embling...anyway hope you get the truck going....
