Does anyone know if 1956 f100 hinges fit on a 55? My friend put his hood on for the first time with the hinges that were on the truck. He had to spread his hood just to get it on and it does not open all the way or shut. We noticed from the LMC catalog he seems to have 56 hinges. I just wanted to make sure before he spent the money on new 55 hinges. Thanks, Chris

  2. No, they don't. The upper arms are different lengths for '53-'55s, & '56. The shoulder bolts for the hinges are different for the two hinge types as well.

BTW, if any of the welded nuts are stripped (where the shoulder bolts go), you can drill/tap oversize & use larger shoulder bolts, or, you can get a special kit that uses an insert to replace missing welded nuts. If the welded nuts aren't intact & tight, the hood won't close right...or at least, it won't close right consistently.
