If you chop it and don't get the proportions EXACTLY right, you'll be kicking your own ass later. I've seen several chopped and only one in my opinion was right.I agree about the big window conversion. Not a better looking truck was ever built.

These trucks take balls to chop. No more than 2", and that seems like a "...why bother..." scenario, but the rest of the elements like wheels/stance/color will scream class to anyone who appreciates fine work. The biggest and most common problems with chops, especially but not exclusively toward pickups, it seems too much is the norm. Anyone good with photoshop can take just 2" out of it, hit the stance right, then do it up in a light frosty pearl or deep dark opaque color. It's easy to go too far. Restraint is it's own reward. Just sayin...

  8. Also agree with the "no chop".
    Pick ups look dis-proportionate chopped.

Thanks SOHC427, no chop, body is lowered 1 inch on frame, air on all 4 corners. 429/C6. I love it with no chop. Here's a pic of an old buddy's truck in New Zealand circ 1969 with a chop. Not bad but no chop is much nicer on these trucks.

I had this older street rod 'annual' mag. Older as in 04-5-6 (?), but there's a superb shot of a 56 with a truly awesome chop and done in semi-gloss pearl white. Had the just right 5 spoke grey wheels too. I want to say it said 2" chop in the description (rod run coverage) but to me it was the perfect use of stance, color, wheels and most of all, restraint. I'd bet a coffee that even the most dedicated to the stock roof would be highly influenced by that one. If I find any shots of it online I'll share.
