im trying to restore an old f2 ford pick up truck 1949...the original e brake was on the drive and ******....but the car now has a chevy 265 and a muncie 4 sp. is there anyway to adapt e brake brackets to the original rear brake backing plates? if so, where can i buy the kit?
Ford didn't mount the parking brake to the rear of the ****** until 1953 on the F-2. Before that the brake was activated by the lever mounted under the dash, on the left. The original set up had the cables running to the two back wheels. There's a "U" type clamp that holds the cables to the backing plates. If you have the original rear backing plates look at the front half, at about the 4:00 position. There should be an opening with two 5/16" holes, that's where the cable went through. I don't know anyone who sells replacements.
