Hello, I had a quick question for the f100 guys... I have a steering that came out of an f8, the guy i bought it from pulled it from an f8 but do not recall if it was from a 50 or 51/52 f8... Are the steering boxes the same from 48-52 f100 through f-8,and the sheet metal the same also? And Would the f8 steering box I have possibly use the f100 pitman arm? (it is missing the pitman arm) I appreciate your time and help Thank u
I don't believe anything from the F-8 will work on your F-100. Complete different truck and the F-8 is probably more heavy duty.
I don't know about the boxes for certain, but probably not. If you are referring to the front fenders so far as the sheet metal...nope, not the same...the fender is more or less the same, but the wheel opening is larger on the bigger trucks.
thank u guys for the replies, I got another steering for my 51/52 f100 But i got the f8 box for my model a rpu and I need a pitman arm,so thought id ask if the arm was the same as the f100. And i apologize about the confuision on the sheetmetal. I meant did the f100 series sheetmetal, is that the same from 48-52 on the f100's? thank u again for your help. and advice =) And Dont the rear fenders on the 48-52 f1 are used on international pickups?
Are you sure you mean a F-8 steering box, that*****er is very large, much to big for a A Pk Up. I have a F-1 in my 29 and needed a pitman arm. Got it from www.dennis-carpenter.com Ice man
thanks ice man for the link. They guy claims it came out of an f8 but looks like a normal f1 box.... nothing huge....
The F8 looks like like an F1 box, but it is a bit bigger. No, F1 and F100 sheetmetal will not interchange. 48-52 were F1 and 53-up were F-100. Tim D.
The sheet metal is the same for '48-50. '51-52 front sheet metal will bolt to an earlier cab but you have to use the entire front sheet metal, you can't mix and match. The only sheet metal that will fit F-1 through F-8 is the cab and grill. The F-1s have their own fenders. F-2 through F-6 share the same front clip, which has larger wheel openings. F-7 & F-8 have wider front fenders than the smaller models. Here's a table of the parts that interchange: www.fatfenderedtrucks.com/partsinterchange.html
