    use a center punch against something solid, like inner fender panel protected by a towel, rag, welding gloves, whatever. Then put a piece of 2x4 between that and smack it with a bfh. Works great, i do it all the time. Shrink sleeve first. Jeez, whole big post for something simple

    Being an old lineman I have a few sets of the two handled mechanical presses shown above-probably 40 yrs old-work great for crimping cable ends-no failures. Have done many for friends as well. Works great in the car as well-just put the handles together. Also have an old hydraulic press with various dies that works well too.

    went to the local guy with red and black cables cut to length put the correct size terminals on crimped them up bobs your uncle.cheaper in the long run.no need to modify or make one unless you live in the wilderness

  5. Wonder if a master cool hydraulic line tool could do battery cable lugs with the correct dies? Humm?

    I have that one, too. Yes, if you made dies, it should be able to.

    I wouldn't (didn't) spend the time to do that, to avoid spending $50. Also, I'd rather risk breaking the $50 tool, rather than the $450 tool.

    Dry. You’re trying to compress the fitting and wire to make a gas tight seal. Anything in there is just getting in the way.
